So it was my birthday last week. I turned 26, which is kinda weird to think about.. I think 25 and 27 are scarier numbers than 26, though.. not entirely sure why that is. For my birthday I gave myself a gym membership.. it's no secret that I'm horribly out of shape, lacking in the energy department, and less than happy with my physical appearance.

The eating isn't my problem at all, I actually have had to UP my number of meals to stay within target range. I just have some well established fat stores that have been hanging on forever.. and I am somewhat of a nut sometimes when it comes to food. When I can I'm all about the whole, unprocessed foods and such.. so this whole gym thing has of course sent me into overdrive stocking up on whole grains and all that crazy stuff. It's kinda hard to get here as compared to SF, though.. where there was an organic produce/food store on my way home ;_;
Sleep IS an issue, though.. i kinda figure that starting to work out regularly would help with it, but it really hasn't. I'm just never tired at night. Even getting up at 7 am everyday as I have been doing these last 2.5 weeks, hitting the gym for 1-2 hours, and working all day I can't get myself to sleep at night.. it's crazy =P I do fall asleep on the train on the way home a decent amount, though.. go figure =P
Currently I'm doing weight training on 5 machines 3 times a week on MWF.. I'm still sorting out my optimal weights for each machine, though. For cardio I've been doing 30 minutes on the elliptical cross trainer every day, plus the usual walking about to and from work and such.. which I think is quite reasonable. The internet tells me not to do more than 45 - 60 minutes or so if I want to strengthen my muscles while loosing fat. My main concern this first month is to get used to the routine and build endurance, though.. I figure I can worry about the efficiency of my work outs more once I'm a little more adjusted to the whole thing ^^
I'm also paying REAL close attention to my protein and fiber intake to help minimize any potential muscle loss and doing things like eating a hard boiled egg and banana as a mid-afternoon snack as soon as I finish my shower on strength training days..
haha.. I know.. I obsess.. but it gives me something to do and it's interesting ^^
I miss you, too! <3
