don't expect too much out of me all at once..

So it was my birthday last week. I turned 26, which is kinda weird to think about.. I think 25 and 27 are scarier numbers than 26, though.. not entirely sure why that is. For my birthday I gave myself a gym membership.. it's no secret that I'm horribly out of shape, lacking in the energy department, and less than happy with my physical appearance. ( Read more... )

I have to agree, the Sparkpeople tools are great, but I never really used the message boards and the community-type stuff. But yeah, it's not crazy, it's useful! :)

And yeah, I feel you on the whole "blahblahblah you're not fat" stuff; I used to have people saying that to me even when I was 200+. It's like they think you're fishing for compliments or something. :p

It's good to hear from you again!!

I should have known it was a very Sarah-sounding website! =O Nice to have some backup, though.. I've gotten some rolled eyes at the mention of the site from people who just have absolutely no clue.

And I've actually had certain people flat out accuse me of fishing for compliments when I've talked about this and other stuff before.. it's annoying as hell. =P

And the message boards and community-type stuff kinda frighten me. I really don't think I'll ever break into using them beyond the actual webpage, which, as stated above, I originally made just to get my points.. but it's kinda nice to have because of the universal access and such.

Glad to have another friend on there, makes it more interesting. =D

I didn't exactly advertise it, you know ^^ I'm a big fan of warranties for apple products. It's a good deal.. of course, the shuffle is so damned cheap that there's no reason to get it for that.. but for a read ipod it's a must, I think. And personally, while there are other products out there for cheaper, I doubt they'd compare.. and at $80 I don't think the few extra bucks matters enough to justify a downgrade. ^_~

MAYA! First off, I miss you.
Secondly, congrats on the whole working out getting in shape routine. Natalie and I go to the gym at least once a week and while I can't say I'm going to be strutting around with my shirt off any time soon just getting my heart pumping on a weekly basis adds a nice jolt to my self-esteem.

I've been reading articles here and there about fitness without diving into the full blown "health nut" mentality. If you're interested, here's a couple things I've learned:

1. Get plenty of sleep! When you sleep less your body tries to get you to eat more to compensate for the low energy.

2. Try to keep a balance between weight training and cardio workouts. Weight training builds lean muscle which helps you burn fat. Too much cardio can potentially burn muscle making it harder to burn fat.

I hope you're doing great. Send me pictures, emails, whatever you got!
much love,
Daniel

I've been going every day that I can since joining. Of course, since I joined midweek, and the following monday was a gym holiday, that means 2 days the first week, and then 4 the next.. tomorrow will mark the completion of my first full 5 days week. Ouch X_x. I'm kind of surprised with myself in some ways for sticking with it and taking it so seriously.. but then, I tend to try and do everything I set my mind to with seriousness, so I guess I shouldn't be all that shocked ( ... )

i fly in on the 4th, but i'll arrive in tokyo at 5pm on the 5th!! we should hang out at night, since i know our orientation is only during the day. i don't have a cellphone when i arrive, so it will be a b*tch to connect with people >_
