Quinn had been depressed after giving up her daughter; the others couldn’t really blame, her, but tried to reassure her that she had done the right thing. It had actually been Rachel’s idea to take a trip to get her mind off of things, and to just go out and have fun, so they could think about something other than school for a while. It had been surprisingly easy to get Finn on board, and once he was he had slowly but surely gotten the others on board. She was sure what really did it was once Finn convinced Kurt to go; he easily convinced Mercedes, Artie, and Tina to go too.

They had managed to get together the money to do a weekend up in Sandusky, to go to Cedar Point. They had checked into their hotel late Friday evening, separated by roommates pretty quickly, and then decided they would go early the next morning to the park.

Cedar Point was considered by many to be the roller coaster capital of the world, something that had Mike so beside himself with glee that Rachel had a very real fear he may wet his pants from excitement. Once they actually got into the park, the bickering about what they were going to do first began and eventually a compromise was made. As most of them trudged off to ride a water flume, she watched discreetly as Kurt and Quinn headed off to a nearby bench.

When the ride was over, and they were suitably soaked, she couldn’t help but notice that Quinn was laughing and there was an empty plate of something sitting between them. She was glad that everyone seemed to be having a good time thus far. She opened her mouth to suggest another ride when a loud, ear piercing shriek cut her off, and Artie went flying by, hands trying to grab his wheels to at least slow himself down. If not for Santana’s quick reflexes, Rachel was pretty sure that Artie would have crashed into the clown that had shown up. She turned to see who had screamed, and was so shocked that she couldn’t even say anything.

Kurt and Quinn were laughing so hard, that they were crying, Quinn leaning against Kurt’s shoulder, and Tina was gripping Mike’s arm in an attempt to stay upright, he was clutching her back, just as tight. As it turned out, that shriek had come from Puck of all people, and he was flat out sprinting in the opposite direction, before he disappeared into the men’s room. The others glanced at each other with varying looks of amusement and bewilderment and it’s after the others have calmed down a little, and Matt has stopped wheezing, that Finn speaks.

“Oh yeah, Puck kinda has a thing, about clowns.”

Something about that sets Mercedes off again, and that’s apparently enough to set of Quinn again, and then Matt. Once the hysterics have finally calmed and only a random giggle happens to pass, someone suggests that somebody go fetch Puck. Artie refuses, he’s kinda pissed that Puck shoved him at the clown. The others all have varying excuses and reasoning’s on why they should just leave him there. Finally Kurt mans up and goes in after him.

It seems to take too long for them to come out, and when they finally do, Kurt is walking behind Puck, like he’s keeping him from running back in. Puck glares at them with a look that clearly warns them not to say a word, and as amused as they all are, they know better than to actually say anything at this point, because a pissy Puck could make the rest of this trip an absolute hell. Rachel quickly suggests another ride.

Once they ride several non-roller coaster rides, Rachel is trying to decide what she should suggest next, or wait until someone else says something when she hears laughter and turns in that direction. She’s relatively startled to find Kurt with his hands trapped in Mike’s as the other boy loudly proclaims he’s found his soulmate. Kurt can’t help but laugh at that, and Mercedes and Artie start laughing at the sheer absurdity of it.

“Kurt agreed to go with him on some roller coasters.” Finn explains. “He’s been asking everyone, and pretty much everyone has said no to most of them. Matt hates them, Puck’s still pouting and I’m still a little nauseous from that last ride that spun us around so much.”

“Brittany would usually go.” Matt adds, and Rachel is a little startled, because Matt never speaks to her. “But Santana’s been throwing up since we went on Chaos, and she’s tending to her.”

“Is she ok?” Rachel asks in concern.

“Oh, I’m sure she’ll be fine.” Matt said with a shrug. “She doesn’t really like rides that spin, but Brittany loves them, so she goes on them with her.” And Rachel smiles a little at that. And her smile grows as Mike loudly announces they’ll meet them at Johnny Rockets for lunch, and pulls Kurt in the direction of the first roller coaster, chattering on excitedly.

“Oh well good, because if Kurt likes roller coasters maybe he’ll stop asking the rest of us.” Finn says, watching them go with some amusement. The others began to pair off or go off in small groups to do things they wanted, and Rachel found herself with a smiling Quinn.

“Is there anything you want to ride?” Rachel asks, because really Quinn had mellowed out an awful lot over the recent months. Rachel had been afraid she would go back to how she was pre-pregnancy, but she hadn’t.

“I’m open to suggestions.” Quinn replies and Rachel grins before pulling out the map so they can look over their options.

When lunchtime rolls around, Finn, Matt, and Puck are the first to arrive and wait rather impatiently for the others. Artie, Tina, and Mercedes get there next, followed by a still rather pale Santana and Brittany. Rachel and Quinn arrive and then they just wait on Mike and Kurt. Once they finally do arrive, ten minutes later, Mercedes zero’s in on the slight flecks of blood on Kurt’s collar.

“What happened?” She asks and Mike shifts a little.

“He kinda got elbowed in the face on one of the rides.” Mercedes, and Finn, who had gone into a strange older brother protective mode suddenly, fuss a little until Kurt manages to wave them both off.

“It’s fine, I’m fine, let‘s just go eat.” He assures and they finally go in for their meal. Once they get seated and their order is taken, Rachel pulls out her map.

“Does anyone have any requests on what we go on after we eat?”

“I didn’t get to go on nearly as many coasters as I wanted, some of the lines were hellaciously long, so I may want to see if we can squeeze in a few more!” Mike says excitedly, looking around the table to see who‘d be willing to go with him. Luckily for him, most of the others at least want to do one or two, and usually someone would be willing to sit out with Matt since he was flat out refusing to ride them. The food comes out then and conversation is forgotten, except for Puck loudly asking just what the hell it is that Kurt is eating.

Once the meal is done, and they’ve paid and headed back out into the park, it takes very little time to decide what to do next. The group heads from ride to ride, and everyone is enjoying themselves. Once Santana’s stomach stops its civil war, even she’s able to enjoy several of the rides. Everything seems to be going well until Rachel realizes there down a person. A quick head count reveals that Finn is no where to be seen. When she voices this, the others call out for him a few times, and then Kurt texts him. When he receives a text back, Kurt rolls his eyes, but tells them he’ll meet them here in a few minutes. Eight minute later, Finn shows back up looking embarrassed and rubbing the back of his neck.

“Where were you?” Tina asks and Finn shifts a little.

“I uh, saw a bunny, and I followed it.” And when several of the others start laughing, he tries to defend himself. “It was really small and I was afraid it was going to get stepped on, so I tried to get it away from all the people, but then I realized I didn’t know where you guys were anymore, and it’s all that stupid bunny’s fault!”

“Yes, very noble Finn.” Kurt says rolling his eyes, but managing not to laugh. Now back together, Rachel decided to change their meet up point, just in case, someone got separated, (Or wandered off) again. For the next several hours they entertain themselves with rides, and Brittany nearly cries with happiness when she gets to take a picture with snoopy.

Everything is fine until the clowns come. It’s like a parade of some kind, and when Rachel looks back to see if Puck is ok, she sees that he’s outright panicking, and in the process of dragging Kurt and Quinn (Who had been standing on either side) a fair distance away from them, a wary look on his face. Quinn is laughing and Kurt just looks annoyed at the manhandling, but neither actually try and pull away and they let the larger boy drag them several paces back, out of the direct eye line of the clowns, who are interacting with the crowd.

“That would almost be funny, if it wasn’t so pathetically sad.” Santana intones, and Matt nods.

“I dunno, I think it’s pretty funny either way.” Mike states and the others begin to try and hide their grins. When the trio returns, Quinn clutching Kurt’s arm and giggling wildly, and Puck scowling, the others wisely keep their comments to themselves. Rachel checks her watch and realizes the park closes in four hours, so she asks what else there is to do that they haven’t already done. The answer is a roller coaster, that Matt pales at the very mention off and Mike starts grinning insanely at the very idea.

“Well, who wants to go on that one?” Rachel asks. Both Mike and Brittany’s hands shoot into the air, and a few moments later, Puck and Finn agree to go too. Tina wants to go, and after a few moments Kurt decides he might as well ride that one too. So while they go off to ride that, the others decide to grab a snack, and they watch the ride from a nearby bench.

“Have you always hated roller coasters?” Rachel asks and Matt nods.

“Yeah, they freak me out.”

“I don’t mind the smaller ones, but the big ones that flip you upside down and such, I don’t like those.” Mercedes says.

“I’m a little surprised that Kurt likes them to be honest.” Artie admits and the others nod in agreement.

When the others get back from the ride, nearly forty minutes later, Finn looks sick to his stomach and the others all see like they’ve had the time of their lives. The group travels from ride to ride, either deciding to go on them, or vetoing them and finally they decided to grab dinner before heading out, the park was going to close in an hour anyhow.

They settle around the table at Game Day Grille, the group relaxes as a little as they realize just how tired they are from the day. It isn’t until they are half way done with the meal that Quinn looks up at everyone and smiles.

“Thanks guys, I really needed something like this.” The others answer her with smiles and nods, and she realizes that she was incredibly lucky. She may not be the high man on the totem pole anymore, but she has actual friends, who genuinely care and love her now.

That was way better.
