Yeah. Elan called me at 11:30 friday night, asking if I was up for an overnight tour at GOVAC. Sure, no problem, I really want to be running on coffee for the circle line tour tomorrow. So I did it. Midnight to three, no calls, just chilling with Elan and Steve and Matt in the Triple Crown diner, then driving around talking to North Shore crews. Then Matt went home, so we had no ambulance driver, so Elan and I started cruising Queens in the EMS Buick, lights, sirens and all. A nice-looking chick tailgated us, so we bleeped her with the sirens and pulled her over, scared her a little let her go. We got involved in a highspeed pursuit when some Asian guy in his souped up Honda blew past us at 90, and we gave chase with lights and sirens. Finally he pulls over, sees us in our job shirts, assumes we're PD, and apologizes profusely. 'Oh, sorry officer, I didn't know you were pulling me over.'
And then there was the job two blocks away from us that the dispatcher 'lost' ... "No job there, sorry..." so we called it a night, it's six AM, and I have to go out again in an hour or two. To do not-funstuff. Like meet people from Maine.
Note to self, do more night shifts.
