Man what a crazy few days it has been for me. Last Thursday night myself,
skajester and
the_lucky_nun all went to the big showcase of bands for the local arts and entertainment publication The Pitch in KC. 28 bands of various styles in 5 clubs for 5 bucks. Can't beat it really. I had lot's of friends playing in various bands as well as some other music friends out and about to support the scene. This is the second time I have gone to this event and it is a total blast. I definately will go again next year.
The next evening was Honeywagen's CD Release show at Benders in KC. It was a long time coming for us and a good time was had by all. We had a good crowd and the other two bands we played with both turned in good sets. I drank quiet a bit in honor of the occassion and ended up crashing at John and Lori's place. They come to all of our KC shows and great folks. They were kind enough to lend a bed for the night which I greatly appreciated. I'm hoping to be able to hang out with them again soon on a night when I'm not playing.
I got home Saturday late morning and got right to work on cleaning my aprtment in wake of Nick moving out a week and a half ago. My Mom came over and helped with this process since there was quiet a bit to be done. We then made a Wal-Mart run to pick the last couple of things I needed to replace. After we got done she went home for a while, picked up my Dad, came back and they took me out to an early birthday dinner. This was really nice since I'll be busy on Tuesday hanging out with all my friends and drinking way to much I suspect. After dinner we stoped by the Olive Gallery to check out the art opening they had. My good friend Bailey is co-owner of the place. Go check them out sometime as they play host to some really cool art of different types and style.
After that my parents and I called it a night. I came home took a quick little nap which was very much needed. This was followed by a night of metal mayham at the Replay thanks to This Building Is Cursed, Jumbo's Killcrane and Wormwood. I got to hang out with Nick, Doug, Robyn, Heather and Adrian and drink to much PBR to top off a busy but fun weekend.
That leads me to today were I did very little here at home. It's weird to have this place all to myself after 3 years. That's gonna take some getting use to, but it will be something that I think I'll enjoy more as time goes on. I figured with the week I had a day of just lounging and relaxin' was what I needed. Definately a nice way to top off a great weekend. Now I'm off to watch a little TV and get some sleep.
