What a fun productive day
So yeah the O'Phil Ruskabank show last night was a lot of fun. It was easily the best set I had ever seen from O'Phil in the whole time I had been seeing them live. Ruskabank played good, but still has a little ways to go from coming back after a year off. They also aren't the same without Keyboardist Donnyves Laroque. He was a huge part of their sound and it ain't the same without him. The B Team was ok, but I have honestly never heard a band that sounded so much like their chief influence. I'm as big a fan of MU330 as any Ska lover, but the B Team really need to work on being just a tad more original and A LOT less like Dan Pothast and company. It was cool to see Nick, Matt, Jeff Peterson (V100 Program Director and President of Noisome Records), and various members of Phat Albert (including Nicks younger bro Steve).
I was suppose to go to the show with Liz, but it didn't work out. After the extreme night of drunken mayhem on Friday she was in no shape for any more. She had to work yesterday morning and let's just say she didn't have her game face on for any of it. So when she got home she gave me a call to tell me that she was gonna sleep for a while and then see if she felt up for being out again. She didn't call back before I took off for the Granda but did today. Turns out she slept most of her night away. I wasn't upset because it happens to the best of us. We're gonna try to hang real out soon though.
So today after I slept in I got a bunch of things finished up. I was put in charge of getting Honeywagens new band bio written for our press kit. That took a little longer then I though it would, but it came out really well I think. After I got that done I went downtown for about an hour to Love Garden and picked up the two Hellcopters CD's I didn't have. That will help make for a good day at work tomorrow. Then after I got home I took a nap and ate some pasta for dinner. Then I went through my checkbook and got the bills I can pay right now taken care of. I'm gonna be so broke in another week or so that it's not even funny. Then I spent the last couple of hours finishing up decorating my bedroom while watching some TV. Now the walls that surround me most of the time are once again covered with fliers from shows gone by and all the great memories that go with them.
And now I'm sitting here typing up this wonderful little entry. Yeah what a fun productive day it has been. Actually what a fun weekend all around. Lot's of good tunes, beer and friends. I can't ask for much more really. Sleep should fell really good tonight. Then it's off to start another wonderful and exciting work day.
