[for Ray]

It felt to Tosh like she was coasting. Doing what it took to get through each day, waiting for the next one and the next. So far she'd managed to avoid really talking about things with anyone but Gwen and Ianto. Not even Jack had heard all of it from her. It wasn't any sort of skillful avoidance, simply a refusal to talk of things. Changing the topic abruptly if need be, often using Jackson as a distraction. It wasn't really fair, she supposed, when her friends did want to know about what was happening. What could she say though? Owen had fulfilled every doubt and worry she'd ever held? That she'd not been good enough, and he'd found others to flirt with. That were more what he wanted and needed.

It was enough for them to know he was gone she supposed. The ring she'd given back, she was alone in that hut that for a very short while had four people living in it. They were things she had to not think about. Her days were busy, thanks to Jackson, and the lab. Abby wouldn't let her overwork, something she supposed she should be thankful for. In fact, she'd insisted that Tosh spend some time outside with her son. Now that she was out by the playground she was grateful for it. It was almost a bit cool in the shade, a breeze coming through the trees. Jackson lay on his back, kicking and squealing, grabbing at the toy she dangled over him. Really, there were reasons she'd never regret what had happened on the island with Owen, even if it had ended poorly. Jackson was the first of those.
