The Great Shopping Experiment

We got to Kohl's around 5:30AM. The lines were already to the back of the store, so we didn't buy anything there. We left, and tried to go to Panera for some food but it wasn't open yet. We went over to Old Navy, which had kids' coats for the same price or less than what we would have paid at Kohl's, without the horrendous lines. We got 3 coats, plus matching scarf & mittens or gloves for each. By this time Panera was almost open (we still had to wait outside for a minute until they let us in), so we had some breakfast. Then we went to Michael's (didn't buy anything), World Market (got 2 free Ghirardelli chocolate bars with scratch-off games, but didn't win, and all we bought was a 4-pack of Boylan's ginger ale) and Target. At Target we just got normal supplies-type stuff like laundry detergent and air fresheners, plus some kids' bath sets for the Link-kids (Hello Kitty & My Little Pony for the girls, Transformers for the boy). The only part of the store that was really zoo-ish was the electronics area, but we didn't need anything from there, so we just avoided it. |We went back to Kohl's around 8:30. By this time, the lines weren't as bad, so we browsed around for awhile but didn't find anything we really wanted. I tried on about 5 pairs of pants, since I really need pants, but nothing really fit me right.

So, to sum it all up...no great bargains, but we had fun. I never would have expected our big purchase of the day would be at Old Navy. I almost never shop there, but after we left Kohl's (the first time) I was feeling kind of discouraged and like a complete idiot for being out that early. I knew Old Navy was open, and it's near Kohl's, so I figured we'd go check it out (basically it was go there, or give up on the whole thing and go back home), and I ended up being glad we did. I think the kids will like their coats.

Then we came home and napped. :-)
