The weekend was nice. We drove up to Virginia on Saturday, stayed at Ryan & Tracy's house Saturday and Sunday nights, then came home yesterday. For some reason my mom's GPS ("Stella") thought we wanted to take non-Interstate routes home. Once I realized that Stella wasn't sending us to I-81, I suggested we ignore her and get there ourselves. We did have a nice drive through the Shenandoah National Park area, but we got on the highway at Newmarket, rather than taking backroads all the way. I wanted to get home to my babies!
Friday I left work early, and Frank, my mom & I went to IKEA for shopping and late lunch/early dinner. My mom had never been to IKEA before. One just opened in Tampa, but she hasn't been yet. That place wears me out! I don't know what it is, but I just get so tired when we go there. Our typical routine is to do the upstairs, stop at the cafe for food, and then do the downstairs. And I get thirsty, too. I love the lingonberry juice they have at the soda dispensers! I get it to drink with my meal, and then, at the snack counter by the exit, I usually get one to go. We didn't buy anything major, just some things for the house like a duster, a cooking pan and a new cat tent!
If you look carefully at the camouflage pattern, you'll see some of the shapes are actually cats (and dogs, and rabbits). So cute! I also bought a random assortment of food from the grocery section- frozen Swedish meatballs, potato fritters, whatever else caught my eye. I thought it looked interesting and could add some variety to our home meals, give our regular chef, Trader Joe, a break. That night we hung out at home and watched Gray Gardens. My mom hadn't seen it before, and it's one of those movies Frank & I can just watch over and over.
Saturday my mom & I drove to Virginia. This is the first time I'd been to Ryan & Tracy's new house. It's pretty neat, has lots of built-ins for their baskets and other collections. They live right in town (in Front Royal, VA), so we were able to walk to have dinner at a restaurant, which was cool. The next day we went to the flea market, which is right across the road from their house, and drove around on Skyline Drive, then went to brunch for Mother's Day. We hung around the house, they made chefs salads for dinner.
janke- I had the Turkey Hill Iced Tea-Lemonade to drink, and it was quite tasty! We watched The Simpsons (including a funny commercial for the new Simpsons postage stamps that came out yesterday!) and King of the Hill, then everyone else went to bed, so I stayed up watching the Red Sox game. Then yesterday my mom & I came back to Charlotte. She's leaving for Florida today.
Frank didn't come because he stayed home with the kitties. Yesterday he had to take Oliver for his distemper shot, which made him tired for the rest of the day. He seems to be feeling better today. He's still getting medicine every day for the parasites. Captain loves the new tent. He gets in it all the time, and sometimes Oliver goes in there and they fight.
Today is Frank's first day of real estate classes. I hope he likes it! Tonight we still have Sunday night's Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters to catch up on. Then tomorrow night is the Lost season finale!
