James Taylor....whooo! We went with Jamie from work, and
chavah, and a good time was had by all. The show was really cool. His band is great, and they played a variety of songs, from the JT standards like "Carolina in My Mind" (huge crowd fave, obviously) and "Mexico" to all kinds of covers of r&b and country songs, of course many of which were also made hits by James at some point, such as "How Sweet It Is (To be Loved By You)". Frank was upset (as were many others, I'm sure) that he didn't play "Fire and Rain." Admittedly I was surprised it didn't make the playlist, but I got to hear "Sweet Baby James" so I was happy. James Taylor seems like a really nice guy. He banters back and forth when people yell stuff from the audience. When he came back after intermission, he perched at the edge of the stage and signed autographs for about 10 minutes. I loved the stage set-up. It reminded me of the main show lounge on a cruise. "Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight the Horizon Lounge will present music legend James Taylor. Early seating is at 8:30, late seating is at 10. Please remember, saving seats is not allowed."
We got home around 11:30 and decided to go ahead and watch Lost. This included
chavah, who stayed over at our place rather than drive all the way home. We zipped through in about 90 minutes without commercials (although after the show ended I did have to go back and check out that "Octagonal Global Recruiting" one, because even on FF I noticed it). So, now I don't have to avoid all Lost-related coverage and commentary. Yet, on the other hand, I just didn't feel like going through the 15 pages of comments on
lost_tv, most of which consist of things like "Ben is so creepy" and "I heart Sawyer" and whatnot. I read
Theoden Janes' blog (he's a TV writer for the Charlotte Observer), and I'll check out some other stuff later.
Even though we got to see Lost last night, we probably still won't go to Sex and the City until tomorrow, catch a matinee. I feel fine now, but eventually I'll start feeling tired as a result of minimal sleep. We have a bunch of random stuff on the DVR to catch up on, some episodes of Simple Living and Clean House, so maybe we'll stay in and watch shows. I still need to find a Wii game to play, too. There's one called Game Show King or something that is available on WiiWare for $10 and I think would like it.
