Chris didn’t even know his name.

It was just a stolen glance from across a crowded coffee shop.
drinking his usual latte and reading a newspaper  Chris happened to
casually look up.

Directly in his line of sight was a ruggedly handsome guy that was
wearing the most fascinating combination of oddly matched clothing.

Odd clothes guy turned around, brown eyes locked on to blue .
Hastily , Chris looked away from the embarrassment of being caught.
Already, from just that glance he knew he wanted to know more about the
mysterious stranger was.

After that day he kept seeing him every where. Varying from the coffee
shop to when he was out for a run . But still, he never got the
courage to approach him. After all what would he say ? Hey nice to finally meet you, I've only been accidentally stalking you for the past  few weeks. Knowing his luck he would say that.

Then out of nowhere he had disappeared. Chris no longer saw him at the
coffee shop , there were no more  casual glimpse of him when he went
for a run.

For a few weeks after that he was positively desperate. Mentally he
berated himself. After all he had no idea who he was thinking about,
didn't even know his name.

Eventually a few weeks passed, he fell back into old habits. Purposely
not going places just because he thought he might catch another
glimpse . All thoughts of him pushed to the back of his mind.

That was until one fateful party.

It was a party of a friend of a friend that he had been dragged to,
and had been very kindly abandoned. The atmosphere was good, everyone
appeared to be in a party spirit. Music was turned up loud , all in
all it was just a typical party. Everyone having a good time ,
dancing, drinking. He knew he was having a good time, giving him a
chance to let go of anxieties and just enjoy himself .Even if that did
mean embarrassing himself with his two left feet and no rhythm .

As the night wore on the party was becoming louder, not showing any
signs of ending anytime soon. Sensing a need for some fresh air and
solitude Chris escaped out the back patio doors .

At first glance he was alone. Enjoying the calm ,still night he
relaxed and took a sip of his beer. Hearing the doors opening he
turned around to see who was interrupting the silence.

It was him!

It was the guy who he hadn't been stalking.

Oh God, oh dear God thought Chris. His heart went into overdrive.
There was rats in his stomach. His mouth went completely dry.

It was him!

"Sorry . Did you want to be alone?"

Obviously he must have misinterpreted him. Mistaking the awkward
silence for annoyance or something.

"No, no . I don’t mind. Solitude is over rated. " Chris was just glad
he didn’t blurt out that he kind of used to accidentally stalk him.

The guy smiled, held out his hand and said " Hi I'm Zach. Zachary
Quinto but people just usually call me Zach."

Chris shook his hand , noticing the shiver that ran up his spine when
their hands connected, " I'm Chris. Christopher Pine but people
usually call me Chris."

Zach laughed. Thank god he knew when it was a good time to make a joke
to diffuse a potentially awkward situation.

"I think I may have seen you around before."

"Possibly."

Fuck , fuck fuckity fuck.

The awkward silence returned, with a vengeance.

Luckily for Chris, Zach broke the silence "I think I must be getting
too old for this party lark . All I want to do now is go home, go to
bed with a good book."

Chris laughed , things seemed less forced , he felt the rats in his
stomach ebb away slightly. "That sounds good. Really good in fact. What
kind of book. Cause you know if you say some modern crime thriller you
can buy out of Wal Mart ,I wont hesitate to walk away right now."

It was Zach’s turn to laugh "Sorry to disappoint you but you wont be
walking away."

"Really?"

From there they slipped into an seamless conversation about who their
favourite authors were ,favourite books and what was acceptable to read.
Slipping out of books an into other topics they found they shared a
lot on common and realised they had a few mutual friends. Strange how
their paths hadn’t fully crossed before. Apart from the completely accidental stalking.

Chris started to yawn , it had been a long day and as much as he
wanted to stay here and talk some more with Zach he simply couldn't.
Mustering as much courage as he possibly could, "I'm thinking about
heading soon. Do you want to meet up for coffee some time?"

He's gonna say no, he probably was just putting up with my mad ...

Zach cut his train of doom "Yeah .It's getting pretty late ." Zach
pulled out his phone and gave it to Chris "Just put in your number and
I'll text you."

Chris typed in his number. When he was finished he handed it back to
Zach.

"Thanks . I'll text you soon to arrange a time. Its been nice meeting
you. But I still cant shake the feeling that I know your face from
somewhere."

"I must have one of those faces. It's been good talking to you.
Hopefully I hear from you soon."

"Don't worry. You will. "

They both left the patio together but split once back inside. Chris
was thankful he didn't bring his car and that it was a short walk
home. It would give him time to clear his head.
