I meant to make a Happy Halloween/Happy November post at one point but kept putting it off and wow we're in the middle of the month all of a sudden. Yikes. Happy late Halloween, I guess!
Several good life developments!
I started volunteering at a natural history museum, in the botany department (the museum has a big research sector I didn't know about before!). The tasks for volunteers aren't anything thrilling or in-depth, but I like it so far! I get to wear a lab coat if I want! And handle specimens & materials from as far back as the 1860's! It's nice working in a lab, since I never get to work in science environment otherwise. Most of the other volunteers are botany or biology students/researchers and are clearly getting more out of the work than me, but whatever, I still like it even if I don't understand half the things I'm looking at. The department as a whole is fun. They host a happy hour every Friday, organized by the curator XD This Sunday I'm going to a dinner for the department - a themed dinner, based on a certain family of plants (as in, all the dishes we eat will contain a member of that plant family). Which I love, because I love nerdy people being nerdy and finding creative ways to revel in their nerdiness :D
Interviewed for a retail job at a bookstore a few days ago. Hope to hear from them soon, and endless fingers crossed for a job! It went well, I think. They (the store owners) asked me about what I read and I went on a bit, but I imagine that can only be a good thing. One interviewer counted it as a point in my favor that I don't like Stephen King very much, because she said she gets a lot of people who say they love reading but only read King XD It seems like a cool job and one I'd really like.
I could have sworn I had more to say when I planned a post weeks ago. But that's all I can think of for now. Hope everyone's November is going smoothly!
