I Will Survive! I Will...Oh Wait...I Already Have...

Well, I just thought I'd let'cha all know I'm do'n okay. I made it though the Season Of God-Awful-ness And Doooooom with (what was already left of) my sanity intact, and my body no more chocolate infested then it usualy is. And now that my shoulder is back to almost-normal, and I don't have to focus on Little Things in order to keep my mind off the rest of the world around me, I figured I should probably stop spamm'n ya all. Sorry 'bout that. ::sheepish grin:: Thanks for putting up with me, though.

To update, though, I did get over to B&N today, and got the first two books in the trillogy. They didn't have the third, so I had to order it, and it should be in simetime this week (I'll get an E-mail when it is), but I was right about my gift cards. Between the two cards, I have $9.99 left over to buy the third book. Which is just perfect, since paperbacks are now Eight Bucks Each!!!

Oh. My. God.

Yah, I'm once again remembering why I stopped buying myself books. ::blinks:: Gah. Looking at my bookcase, most of my paperbacks are in the $5.99-$6.99 range, with a fair number of older $4.99 books mixed in. And most of those I got used, so cheeper then that, but even the new ones... Wow, $7.99 for a paperback! My god, really, what's changed? I meen, the books are the same number of pages, the pages seem to be the same weight, the font size is the same, the ink dosen't seem any darker then it used to be...where does the extra cost fit in? ::sighs:: ::shakes head::

Anyhow, I'll probably start reading the first one today, and by the time I finish both, the third one should be in. Really, if there is anyone reading this who hasn't tried them? Do so. They're a lot funneir if you can make the connections to recent-ish pop-culture TV shows filmed in Vancouver (like Forever Knight, and the X-Files, and SG1/SGA), but it's not nessicary. They really are good, solid fantisy set in modern settings. And really, any book with a raelistic gay main chractor? Needs to be supported. And I love that he's a mage who has no fucking clue what the hell he's doing, so he just sorta makes it up as he goes along. Sound fermiler to anyone? ::smirk::

In other news, I finished my first washcloth. I'm pretty happy with it, I made a few mistakes, but was able to cover them fairly well, I think. I once again whent with the same basket weave, and once again, the color is somewhere between what it is in these two pics.

On a side note, I had to upload these to my FlickR account, instead of LJ, because for some reason LJ Scrapbook is refuseing to exist at the moment. ::chuckles:: However, if this works, and the images don't go 404 or anything on me, I may use this to house all my future Crochet images, as well as my other craft images. I already have a lot of my Clay stuff up there, anyhow.

Speeking of, feel free to check out my clay stuff on My FlickR Account!

And to finish off this Post-V-Day Post, here's a pic of the new yarns I just bought. Both are Sugar 'N Cream brand 100% cotton yarns, Lime Stripes and Faded Denim. The first wash cloth is nice, and I really am happy with how it turned out, but it's definatly a synthetic yarn, so I'm not sure how well it'll actulay work. It probably won't hold water too well. So...cotton. The green isn't my usual color scheme, but it might fit in with mom's colors for the kitchen.
