Well, a hurricane warning and mandatory evacs have just been issued for SW Louisiana, including Iberia parish. It's odd, considering Ike is SUPPOSE to make landfall somewhere around Freeport/Galveston, TX. We are in south-central Louisiana. I understand the flood and tropical storm warnings, due to storm surge coming up the delta but hurricane evacuations again?? C'mon.
I'll be away for a day or so yet again, due to power outages. I know the water won't reach our home (26 inches above ground) but the power outages and restricted access due to flooding will make it difficult here. Still, we have to evacuate. His dad is forcing us to.
What's worse is we were going to David's parents, I guess. He just called me and said we were going over there (other side of town, under voluntary evac) rather than to my parents (north and never floods, rarely has power outages). I can already feel the anxiety building. His parents and I don't exactly get along so I'm planning on spending a great majority of my time in his old room, where we put the kids up when we house-sit. If I'm forced to be in the living room, I might just stay quiet and try to keep the kids under control.
This is going to be fun.... not.
