I went to the house warming of a couple of friends of mine last night. I have to admit I was a poor guest as I didn't take them anything.
Scottie didn't seem to mind, afterall they've been living there for a couple of months now and I am out of work and broke.
Gary has done himself an injury at the gym and was not on top form, bless him.
What was interesting (apart from the fact that I must have been one of maybe five females in the house and that 99% of guests were gay men) was how many writers were in the room, not just authors but TV show writers. I had a nice chat with local author
David Llewellyn about how he got started (contact all local publishers and ask nicely) and long catch ups with TV/ Audio writer
Joe Lidster and Producer/ Web Designer/ Cartoonist/ Guru
James Goss.
They're all concerned because I'm not working. And, love them, they were all supportive of my decision to write (I've never told them, they all get paid to write for a living, I can only hope). Joe offered to make Scott give me contacts at Big Finish should I want to write audio plays. Unfortunately, as I want to write paranormal romance/ urban fantasy and they tend to write TV tie-in novels or television/ audio plays they didn't have a whole lot they could help with. But I did threaten Scott with snippets, seems only fair to return the favour.
Ooh, and on the funny side I did discover that the person BBC Wales hired to do the job I wanted walked out after four days. Ilisa apparently came back to the office after a meeting and the girl had cleared her desk and disappeared! Ha!
