Driving around with friends

Had a great day today. Lots of driving. I dropped off mum to work, then picked up Ruu and CC and took a drive down Beach Road. I don't live near the beach, so I got excited over seeing glimpses of the ocean bay. It was almost like the time in Okinawa when my friend was driving us on the road along the beach... only that time it wasn't RAINING. Yes, the skies decided to pour on the day I picked to go drive with my friends. -_-. Well, at least I got to get some experience driving in wet conditions, which Ruu pointed out we don't get a lot of, what with the drought and all..

We stopped to have lunch, and I was again struck by the different standards that people have for eating out. Yesterday, while I was discussing Japanese restaurants with the girl I met after the JLPT, I suggested Kimurakan, which I had been to with friends a lot and reckon did a fairly decent meal. But she said she thought the food there was まずい、not nice. On the other hand, my friend today said that to her, food was food, and so the cheaper the better.

Anyhow, we all ended up having shepard's pie, haven't had one in aaaages~, and sat around catching up. Oh, and since we're hardly ever all together, making plans for future meetups.

After lunch, I was driving along the Beach Road again, and then pulled into a car park and we walked down a pier where you could see the city skyline against the bay. There were shipping boats in the distance, and it reminded me of Shimonoseki a lot, actually. The water was murky, not at all like the clear beach that my friend saw in the Okinawa photos I showed her that day.

We took silly pictures of doing silly things, and it was so fun just mucking about and exploring outdoors, with the sea breeze blowing. I love my friends. :D
