Why you should read it: As much as I love the descriptions of Ianto in this - numb, feeling as though he's not quite real, the loss of his one and only love stripping away everything else that made him human - I think it's actually the characterization of Jack that I like best. He takes care of his people, even when he doesn't particularly want to, even if he doesn't always know how, because that's the kind of man I've always thought him to be. He's lived a hundred lifetimes and will live a million more and he will carry them with him always and forever, the pain and the heartache as well as the joy.
