Summary: Sometimes Owen gets the feeling that he's forgotten something important
Why you should read it: Retcon and the consequences of its use are common themes in Torchwood fic. The potential for things going very badly is high, not to mention the ethical issues involved and the frank horror of having somebody else forcibly wipe your mind without your knowledge or consent.
This fic is a little bit different. The author says it's set in early season 2, but could really be anywhere up until Reset. There is retcon, and there are the consequences of retcon, but it isn't about the process. Rather, it's about the emotional story after the memory loss event, particularly a deep and profound sense of loss that pervades the piece without succumbing to overwrought angst or drama. In addition, it has an odd sweetness permeating the sorrow. The icing on the cake is good, strong characterization of Owen that doesn't resort to foul language, abrasiveness, or caricature.
