Of course it is offensive to people when what they are doing is labelled what it is, as sin. It is like saying to a pig they they stink. Pigs don't know pigs stink, because they have gotten used to the mire they are in.
Still gotta love them though!
Lets take an extreme example: Genocide of the Jews in WW2. Do you think the nazis were offended when people accused them of genocide? of course they were! How could they possibly stand someone pointing out what they were doing was wrong? Imagine that - they know what they are doing is wrong, but they cannot stand being told it is wrong, it is like being caught out. Like the kid who has been caught handed with their hand in the cookie jar, they turn filled with rage and strike back. Anyone who spoke out against killing Jews in east prussia including good people like the German pastor Boenheffer (sp?) paid the ultimate price for it if they were caught.
We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that we need to recognize and repent of our sin, no matter how nice or natural it might seem at times. Sex is awesome, but fornication is sin. Homosexuality is in the same boat. There can be no misinterpretation that it is not. To deny this is to go against the word of the bible. While this is sometimes offensiveto our sensitivities, lets not forget how we feel about something is pandering to our flesh.
Cor 1 and matt 22:39 meet on the graph at the point where you love your brother enough to point out sin for what it is.
Let the righteous man smite and correct me-it is a kindness. Oil so choice let not my head refuse or discourage; for even in their evils or calamities shall my prayer continue. Psalm 141:5
