Georgia... not the sweet tea kind

Allison Reed and Otar Japaridze are pairs skaters for the country of Georgia at the Olympics.
The interesting part? Allison was born in Warren, Michigan and has never been to the country of Georgia, but the president pushed her Georgian citizenship through so that she could compete.

Now, it's one thing to run off to a country and train for a few months to be a part of the Olympics to compete for another country... but to have never even been there?  Wow.  Now maybe this isn't unheard of, or might even be more commonplace.  Sure, if she's always wanted to be in the Olympics and someone came up to her and said "If you want to be in the Olympics, just sign your nationality over to us and its yours" then I can think a lot of folks would want to prove themselves in the sport more than for national pride.

So the question is: Is the Olympics nation vs. nation, or is it competitor vs. competitor?  I guess it depends on each individual and each country represented how they want to handle that question.
