So, tonight I decided just to look over my Gen Con hotel confirmation information again because I think they only have me scheduled to stay (as I'm volunteering as a Senior Volunteer) for Tuesday night through Monday morning (if they want me there bright and early on Tuesday, I'll probably need to sty Monday night too, like last year) when I realized that ... in fact I'm not staying at the Embassy Suites like last year. No sir!
I'm in the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown... Yep! Back to being attached to the con directly via catwalk! I've never actually stayed at the Marriott, but I've stayed at the Westin right next door before. :D
The good points of this are that when I'm bored as all heck at night, I can go out and down to the convention center without having to talk a few blocks, and that I don't have to leave the air conditioning when I want to head back to my room. It's closer to the convention center, so if I need to run to my room between work and wandering the exhibit hall, it's a much easier task to drop crap off, or get stuff from my room. :D Plus the skywalk from the Marriott actually lands just feet from Exhibitor Services at the entrance of the food court. XD
On the other hand, no free breakfasts, no free drinks (not that I really partook in either that much last year anyways), and no entertaining room with extra seating so that you can hang out while the other person sleeps in their own room. Also, the cheaper parking will be a few blocks away, but I think I can handle that since I never drive during the convention (in 8 years or so, I've never had to get my car to drive anywhere. The only time I ever did was in Milwaukee and that was to go to a very far-away restaurant, I think.)
So... whoot! Marriott! Oh, how I've missed you! Be my friend again!
