So on Tuesday I went over to
Dreese Fine Art & Framing (my cousin's frame and mat shop) to talk about framing options for my
commission from Heather Bruton.
We decided on a blue matte with a thin white under-matte and a frame that has this brown to amber. The dark ege frames nicely and the amber brings out the orange tigers in the center of the painting. The blue matte works beautifully with the sky and the off-white edge helps to frame the piece itself. I decided to go with regular glass for now, but I might switch it out in the future if I feel it's necessary.
While receiving and making commissions for my tiger-striped samurai-ko from various artists at GenCon, I came across this...
<---This is "Tiger's Ink" by Alain Viesca (
www.alainvarts.com) (psst. watch out! There's some barely noticeable nippleage showing...)
Had she had a izumi-style tattoo going on, I would have just thought it was interesting... but the stripes are eerily similar to Tora's. I HAD to pick it up. :D A matted print for $35. Whoot!
Rumor has it that the art is done by creating 3D models, then photoshopping to create the final product, but I have no proof of that thus far. (None of this is negative, just the artist's possible style.)
