Just got back from Orientation at HOFSTRA U.- My new home away from home. It was SO FUN. Traveling up there, I kinda got lost somewhere in "Five Towns"(this city in Long Island) but New Yorkers are actually pretty nice and whenever I got confused, I could just ask someone in another car for directions. I was like "Do you know how to get to Hofstra?" and the one guy was like "I should...I went there!"
After checking in I went up to my suite...and my orientation suite-mates were all just sitting in silence...so I fired up some convo! Then we had a floor meeting, with our floor's PC, Dan, who was kinda strange. So this girl asked him "I'm sorry, is that a Tamagouchi??" THE GUY HAD A RED TAMAGOUCHI ATTACHED TO HIS BELT! So we all laughed, then another PC named Nicolina's cell went off and her ringtone was "A Lil' Bit" by 50 cent. And PC Dan was like "Omg Nicolina, r u serious?" and I was like "YOU CAN'T TALK, U HAVE A TAMAGOUCHI!" and he was like "Yea, but my Tamagouchi doesn't go off during meetings" and I was like "Yea, well I don't carry around my Furby with me" everyone laughed then it got quiet and I was like "No, I dont really have a Furby" and they all laughed again, twas fun.
THEN the PC's sung "Holla Back Freshmen" to us in one of the auditoriums. It was a unique version of "Holla Back Girl" the best part was when PC Ben, this cool black dude, jumped outta nowhere and screamed "THIS SCHOOL IS BANANAS, H-O-F-S-T-R-A!"
We had to take placement exams for math and language which kinda sucked, I did so bad on math haha, but seriously, I barely passed that class every year...o well, I'll be in an easy class hopefully. On the French exam, I didn't do great but I did better than the majority of new students. Holla at Varacalli!
I met lots of cool new friends, everyone was really nice, but straight up...people are so weird at college. LoL, like they don't have the same sense of humor me and my friends do...some things that I said would make them go into hysterics and other things which I thought were funny I would just kinda get weird looks about. I kept thinking "my friends woulda laughed" lol. My sister says thats the way it is at her college and everywhere else, it's just how things are. Everyone is all about this FaceBook thing too, so I guess I'll be making one of them shortly to avoid harassment, or probally to receive it. Add me.
Most of the kids seemed really outgoing which made me feel a little less outgoing lol. SO then I started thinkin about how starting over kinda sucks. Think about it, the last time we really had to do this was kindergarten. Of course, it's awesome to meet new people and its cool how you can be whoever you choose to be in a fresh enviorment but I feel kinda weird because I started thinking, what if people don't see me as my happy/outgoing/spontaneous identity here. But then I remembered it's not what other people think about you that makes you yourself, you know who you TRULY are. So I guess what I'm really scared about is...what if I'm not that person anymore? I hope I am, because I liked that guy.
I met these 2 girls named Simi and Valentina, they're really fun, we went around on every floor of the building we were living in shouting "WHERE U FROM!? east side WHERE U AT?! hofstra WHERE U WORK?! down the corner, i wanna give a shout to my baby daddy, who don't pay no child support" They call me Cheesesteak cuz of the whole Philly thing, and I call Simi, Chimi Changa.
One night, everyone got bored at like 1 am so floor 3 made this bowling game, it was so exciting, you'd get up there and say where u were from and everyone would cheer lol. I think stupid crap like that is what college is gonna be like...FUN!
The coffee house and dance party were also really fun, this one girl kept dancing all over me, and then when we got back to the suites, at random times I would hear "I LOVE BRANDON" which was really nice but kinda creepy. There are SO MANY hot girls up there but this girl was just a little crazy.
I'm REALLY glad that I chose Hofstra, and I'm psyched that Shaun is going too! I think this is the start of something amazing...you all better call and visit.
