R.I.P Elisabeth Sladen
Today I read the sad news of Elisabeth Sladen's death from cancer. It was such a shock to me because I didn't know she was ill. She will be sadly missed.
I was first introduced to Sarah Jane Smith in 2006, when she guest starred on the Doctor Who episode School Reunion. I really liked her character and her robot dog. It was such a fun episode. Later on I started watching The Sarah Jane Adventures, which I love so much even though it's really for children.
My boyfriend was the one who introduced me to the Fourth Doctor's adventures with Sarah Jane and Harry Sullivan. For my birthday last year he gave me the story where she was first introduced, I liked that she was feisty but still vulnerable. She came at a time when feminism was in the air and proved that companions were more than girls who screamed. My OT3 from that era is Fourth Doctor/Sarah Jane/ Harry Sullivan, even though it didn't last long enough.
R.I.P Sarah Jane, you were awesome and I know right now you are up there with the Brigadier, sharing stories about the Doctor, over tea and Jammy Dodgers.
