TOP 5 - 1980's Films

Many of these choices may have been influenced by my age at the time... Yet, I still stand by them.

Not just kids movies...

TOP 5 1980's FILMS

05: Ernest Goes to Camp (1987)
Directed By: John R. Cherry III
Starring: Jim Varney
Yeah, yeah I know I only picked it 'cause I liked it as a kid. Doesn't matter... I still chuckle every time I think about that part where Ernest is getting shot at and the bad guy keeps missing. I never much liked summer camp, but somehow, this movie makes me miss it.

04: Christmas Vacation (1989)
Directed By: Jeremiah S. Chechik
Starring: Chevy Chase

If there are any movies I like as much as time-travel movies, they must be Christmas movies... and (next to Home Alone) Christmas Vacation dominates the market. Vastly superior to the original Vacation, CV finds Clark getting into more trouble than he ever has.

03: Batman (1989)
Directed By: Tim Burton
Starring: Michael Keaton & Jack Nicholson

I'll freely admit that Begins is the superior movie, but don't listen to the naysayers, this version is still barely dated, and we all must remember how insanely freaking awesome every aspect of it was, from the costume & gadgets to (most especially) the Bat Wing.

02: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)
Directed By: Stephen Herek
Starring: Alex Winter & Keanu Reeves
Comedy is a very subjective thing, but you have to admit this movie is at least a little bit hillarious. Easily Keanu Reeves best role to date (essentially playing himself), B&T features everything from time-travel to a pep assembly, what more could you ask for in a 80's film?

01: Back to the Future (1985)
Directed By: Robert Zemeckis
Starring: Michael J. Fox

The obvoius choice is Back to the Future. Whether you're 6 years old (when I first saw it), 12 years old (bought it), 20 years old (bought it on DVD) or 25 years old (just watched it, still awesome) this movie is flawless. It doesn't discriminate, it guarantees greatness.
