Top Five

Well here it goes the music I enjoy the most...

1. Pop Punk

Call it mall-punk, poseur-punk, or crap. Pop Punk is by far the best music to me. I enjoy all punk rock really I do but to call punk rock my favorite type of music would be too tough to pick a top five. Then the debate would be how could you put that band in the same top five as the Clash? So, I thought I would list the type of punk I enjoy most. You can say what you want but it’s my favorite and I will not deny it. I love the fun of pop punk and the awesome thrash sound. It’s so upbeat you can really get into it, also it’s very catchy. When I started at Music World one of the girls working there got me into NOFX and Pennywise. My wife introduced me to the Vandals and her brother to Operation Ivy. All awesome bands but none I would consider as pop punk for this list. I really do love Punk.

5. Good Charlotte - These guys edged out Gob and The All American Rejects for this spot. Their self titled album was pretty good and in my opinion they followed it up with an even better album in the Young and the Hopeless.

4. New Found Glory - One day I went into work at Music World and my Wife who wasn’t my wife at the time but was my boss told me to take home the New Found Glory self titled album. She knew I would like it and play the shit out of it at the store and annoy the crap out of her. So, I left it at work and played the shit out of it. The album is wicked awesome. They followed it up with Sticks and Stones, and Catalyst which are both good albums but nothing compared to the self titled album.

3. Blink 182 - At one point they would have been in top spot. They had surpassed Green Day in my opinion at one point. However, Take off Your Pants and Jacket is probably the worst album out there. I also thought that Enema of the state was pretty week. Dude Ranch on the other hand is so awesome. That album is in the top five pop punk albums for sure. Top to bottom the album totally kills. To bad they had to go and suck.

2. MxPx - Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo ranks right up there with the best pop punk albums ever. I also really enjoyed The Ever Passing Moment and Before Everything and After. These guys make really good upbeat music. They fucking rock but they would never say that.

1. Green Day - This was the band that started the punk rock craze for me. I have every album they have ever made and I love them all, yes, even Shenanigans. I think Dookie is by far their best album followed by American Idiot and Nimrod. These guys rule. I even got to see them live for the American Idiot tour which was pretty awesome.
