Learn to knit, DAMMIT

I have, this afternoon, successfully cast on a bunch of stitches and made about an inch of knitting work.  Ow, my arms and hands ache.  I'll get used to the contortions eventually, I know, and it will be as second-nature as I find crochet to be...some day.

I'm still doing <> wrong, in the knit/purl back-and-forthishness.  I'm still getting ridges ( Read more... )

Try knitting every row, and see if that works better for you.

Alternating knits and purls by rows will make the piece curl up at the end (which is desirable in some instances, but not if you're doing larger works).

You might also try practicing the stitch pattern for the tops of the socks: knit 2 purl 2, repeat.

OK, I'll try that stuff.

At this point, I'm really just trying to figure out the mechanics of it. I keep dropping my left needle out of the work when I get to the end of a row! Argh!
