Learn to knit, DAMMIT

Jul 24, 2008 17:41

I have, this afternoon, successfully cast on a bunch of stitches and made about an inch of knitting work.  Ow, my arms and hands ache.  I'll get used to the contortions eventually, I know, and it will be as second-nature as I find crochet to be...some day.

I'm still doing <> wrong, in the knit/purl back-and-forthishness.  I'm still getting ridges every other row, though I *think* I'm alternating the knitting and purling rows.  Umm, I think I'm purling when I'm supposed to.  Got the knit stitch down pat.  So, kinks to be worked out, eventually.  I used some old variegated sugar 'n' cream, and that helped me to spot which loop was coming and which was going.

Very pleased with myself.  Only had to call for help once, so far.  Thanks,
kanderson321!
