So...I've pre-ordered City of Villains. Because, y'know, it's practically a moral obligation for me to do so. I mean...villains, people. Gotta have it.
This means that I get a nifty disk sent to me ahead of time (which should be arriving tomorrow, I think!) which will allow me to play in the beta of CoV. The thought makes me squirmy with joy.
I've been playing World of Warcraft for about seven days now (a trial thing). Honestly, I really don't think it's all that great; I'm trying to dissuade someone from buying it for me; I burned out heavily on fantasy-themed MMOGs long ago with Ultima Online and then the original Everquest. I'll just stick to Guild Wars whenever I need a fantasy fix; sure, you can't run anywhere you want to in that game, but hey, it kills the competition in both looks and price (no monthly fee!), if not always in gameplay.
I have such love for other-genred MMOGs, like EVE Online (which is beautiful, almost zen, but kinda inscrutable to the new player), Anarchy Online (which is, IMO, still the most robust, entertaining MMOG out there) and City of Heroes (who doesn't love playing a super hero?).
I still miss Earth and Beyond. I was so sad to see it fold. I really like space-themed games, especially when there's an option to be a trader; I got hooked on this type of gameplay back in the TradeWars days. I never get tired of star-hopping with a cargo-bay full of merchandise ready to sell to the highest bidder.
Allright, that's enough of that for now.
