Yes, I'm still alive...

It's apparently been 42 weeks since I last posted on here.
I figured it was high time to come back to LJ :P

So: 2008 in brief...

Professional:
I resigned my post due to legalities, left England for Ontario, waited for legalities to be sorted in a semi-timely fashion, was advised to not return to England for various reasons (including, but not limited to, the lack of timely fashion in which my legalities were being sorted by the government), looked into teaching in the US but decided to put it off until I had finished some upgrading courses at the university, picked up a post at the factory in the meantime, took a course at the local college for said post, managed to spend 6 months there (was planning on a year or two to get finances in proper dealable shape), then the economy did its up-ender and in the span of 6 weeks was laid off, not laid off, unofficially laid off, officially NOT laid off, and then officially laid off again, all from the same job. I am currently unemployed once again ... although I do also cover as a chiropractical medical/office assistant at my chiropractor's office as required (because that has oodles to do with my training, but it's all good!) :)

School:
I was planning on taking my Special Needs part I in Sept ... but my job highly recommended that I take a wiring course at the local college instead, so I did. Kicked arse on it too, I might add. Sigh - then again, you never know when that knowledge might come in handy, right?
So now I'm planning on doing both the special needs course and a 'teaching with technology' coursem, starting in a couple of weeks. They're both online - so I'll have even more of an excuse to be on the computer :D I had been debating whether to get my Occupational Health and Safety certification from the local college to marry with my BEd, but it's a 3-year course ... however, just when I'd pretty much decided to go with it, I found out I was being laid off, so making a three-year plan didn't seem overly advisable anymore.

Personal:
SO moved in, I left the country (see above), relationship was strained, we broke up. New SO had to hit me over the head with the fact that it was, indeed, not just 'harmless flirting' ... and I'm in a long-distance relationship yet again! Go me... I also had a crush on my boss in there, but that's not only beside the point but a totally different story :P
Oh, and my folks and I moved - so after 9 months of sleeping on a blowup bed in the living room, I finally have my own room again! With a real bed! And a DOOR!!! *does happy dance*

Excursions:
AT3 in May was highly eventful! The looks on the attendants' faces when I opened my suitcase to show off paperwork, jello, PB, chocolate and maple syrup - but no clothes! - at the airport will stay with me for quite a while :) Highlights included blue jello hijinks, more than one hug from Amanda, having her tell me that she loved me (in a purely platonic 'you amuse me' sort of way, of course!) and ordering me, in front of witnesses, to 'stay crazy'. I think I have managed to oblige thus far :D

Coming up in 2009:
My four planned trips have been condensed into 2, thus far - Vancouver at the beginning of April, and England in November. (Oh, and I've been to the cottage with Heather and Pam for a few days already ... hopefully I'll be able to get back up there with Kara at some point in the summertime as well!) My trip in Feb to visit Fig is rapidly turning into her visiting me in June, which works well too - yay!! I'm taking these two education courses ... still looking at potentially leaving the province to go teach elsewhere (West and South being the directions of probability atm). My 'bounce-buddy' Hannah wants to take a X-country trip from TO to Vancouver in the summer of 2010, so we're tentatively planning that as well :D:D:D

Yeah, that's about it for me atm!
I'll try to not stay away as long next time :P
Hope y'all are well :)
