I have done nothing the past week except work, drink cappachinos, and read. I decided to be a proper English major I should read more classics. Or at least somewhat contemporary classics. So I read This Side of Paradise and really enjoyed it. The name Amory grew on me, it's a nice name. Fitzgerald has always been one of the few American authors I actually really like outside of the beats and some of the more modern stuff. As much as I try, Faulkner just annoys me. I think next I'm going to read Eats, Shoots, and Leaves because while I usually have really good grammer I never know all the rules and things behind it. Other than that, not a whole lot has been going on.
Saturday night I went to a hip-hop concert with Brandon and Martin. We were there to see Del the Funky Homosapien but since it was a hip-hop concert there was like 7 openers. One of which was the Fufops who you should look up on myspace and listen to the song Fat Girls. Yeah, they are from Belleville. There was also a guy whose name I can't remember who had a song about why we should vote for Obama instead of McCain. It was entertaining.
This weekend I'm having a garage sale in an attempt to help my camera funds. I priced away most of my childhood which doesn't really bother me. I'm not very sentimental to things I should be. Why get upset over china dolls I wasn't supposed to play with much anyways? I will keep my American Girl dolls mainly because they were very expensive and they seem like the sort of thing I should keep in case I ever have a kid. Most things I really just don't care. The thing I was most upset about really was the plastic, brightly colored bracelets I wore in highschool. They remind me of some of my favorite times ever. My favorite things to get rid of are all the weird presents my mom's friend has given me over the years for Christmas. My brothers usually get useful things like gift certificates, appliances, or food. However since I'm a girl I get all the weird and the tacky. Blankets with dogs on them, nail decals, clothes that only the giver would really wear, and even a foot stool that looks like a teddy bear...I shit you not. The main things I'm keeping are gifts from people I like or things I just absolutely couldn't get rid of. The main item that I never use but can't get rid of is my typewriter. It was one of my most unexpected gifts ever and it came from a thrift shop which makes it even more exciting. It came from Alex and was probably one of the few times he was being sincere about anything. We weren't even dating at the time, he just gave me a typewriter because he thought I would like it. I'm also looking for my JNCO's and hope my mom didn't find them and throw them away because I would be ridiculously upset. I have never loved a piece of clothing more than those pants. I think the summer I was 15 I wore them 6 days a week, most likely rarely washing them. The other day was when I had to go to church. This is getting really rambly so I'm going to stop and go price more craptastic knick knacks.
Love & Sunshine,
Ginny
