So, last night I hung out with my lovely friend Jessica and her friend Paul. He looks like the guy, Cal, from 40 year old virgin.
It was a lot of fun. We talked and laughed, and went back to his place and drank some delicious drinks. I had a shot of some lemon thing, then a shot of some weird herbally thing, and then he made me an Inverse Stop light and later an Alien Secretion. They were super tasty.
We all sat around bullshitting and relaxing. Talking about horribly embarrassing and awful sexual experiences. Complaining about people. It was just relaxed and groovy. I love evenings in like that where you're laughing and yelling and hooting and hollering and carrying on.
Came back home at around 3 am and pretty much passed out immediately.
Woke up around 11, but lazed in bed until 1. Got up, ate lunch (which was leftover salad from last night = delicious). Then I looked up a lasagna recipe, because my father and brother had expressed interest in me making a lasagna for dinner tonight. Found the "World's Best Lasagna" recipe and headed up to the store.
I didn't wake up early enough to get the car, so I walked up to the nearest Grocery store (which is about 200 meters away) instead of going to the better one. Got all of the ingredients after wandering for ages. That's why I don't like that store - things are so wonky!
On top of all of the ingredients for the lasagna (which included sweet Italian sausage, yum yum), I bought myself some roasted red pepper hummus and some pita bread. As well as these 100% fruit&veggie full servings of each kinda deals. They're really delicious - you can't taste veggie at all!
Anyway. Bought all that junk on my credit card (I'm afraid to see my statement for this month o_o) and shuffled home.
Cooked it all up. I was surprised at the fact that I did it all and well. I've never cooked a lasagna before, but I was in my zone.
I was intermittently watching Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy all day long. So I kept going out to the living room, skipping back a few scenes, watching a few minutes - wandering back to the kitchen. Repeat several dozen times, haha.
My mom gets home, and she informs me that my grandfather's tumor isn't responding to his chemotherapy. My grandmother is going to take him to see a different set of specialists (probably at the Maryland Cancer Center). All the chemo is doing is making him sick, and he can't eat very well either (he has Esophageal Cancer, which has spread to his lungs at this point). Hopefully they can do a combination of things. Both of my parents have been researching about it, and it seems that the Frederick Memorial Cancer Center just isn't doing as much as they could be doing. There's a new drug that's been suggested for Pop-pop, but the problem is insurance isn't covering it. So my grandmother is filing and appeal, and hopefully he'll be able to get this drug, when chemotherapy has failed.
It's been rough. The family business is going down the tubes. My dad hasn't gotten his paycheck in 3 weeks because there hasn't been enough money for payroll, and the money that is there, they've been giving to the people who work hourly wages (Because they definitely need it more). The sales woman isn't selling well at all (My dad isn't even the salesman, and he's already outsold her this week). I think my grandmother is on the verge of throwing in the towel. And I think that it would probably be for the best. Unless Janet (the sales lady) gets her ass in gear (she isn't motivated because to her, this is all just a hobby, she doesn't NEED the money - her husband is loaded), the business is going to fold by the end of the summer. It's really hard to see something that's been such a huge part of your life since you can remember fall under like this. My grandmother is going to crack, between dealing with the business and Pop-pop's health... she's just got it rough.
Everyone is super stressed - so I'm just trying my best not to add anything to the mix.
I'm not sure what I'm up to tonight. I've got to pop some things in the laundry. I may see if anyone wants to chill or walk around.
Hope you're all having a lovely day!
