I went over to the college, gave them my high school transcripts and took the placement tests. Talk about a blast from the past. I breezed through the arithmetic portion scoring 110, chugged through the elementary algebra scoring 101 (and I honestly can't believe I did that well), and mostly guessed my way through college level algebra scoring a 35. I really didn't enjoy the reading and sentence portion but I did excellent well scoring 115 in both. To be honest when I was taking these portions of the test I felt like I couldn't read at all. I guess it proved me wrong. I think all of the professional / medical reading I have to do really had an impact in that department.
After the testing I went to the Counseling department and spoke with and adviser. She really thinks I have a shot at getting into the 2011 nursing program I just need to be applied for entrance by this fall. What that means is I need to take Biology and the first semester of A&P by the end of the summer semester. Hopefully I get to register as early as possible because the summer anatomy course will fill up very quickly. After that I will need to take the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) to finish the process off. I was happy to learn that I do get to skip my English and psychology courses.
I learned two very important things about myself. I can do quadratic equations and not even realize it or remember exactly what they are and my english is not nearly as bad as I perceive it to be.
