My One Political Entry

Dec 29, 2008 02:36

So lately, I've been pretty apathetic about politics. It feels good that Obama is my new president. Its seems immature, but the 7 year old in me wants to run around chanting "Told You So". Regardless, why the hell do we elect someone in November and give the other guy until mid January? How about we just give him until the end of November and throw him promptly in the street like the town drunk in a Western. I mean by the back of the shirt and belt loop.

Regardless, I really don't think people understand the Mideast at all. I'm definitely not an expert, but people don't understand. And why the fuck do we support Israel? We just sort of arbitrarily choose them when they are bombing Palestine back into the stone age... And I read the other day that some guy in New York was arrested for helping people get the Hamas television. He basically is charged with helping terrorist? What kind of fucked up Orwellian world is this where that is a crime? The KKK can have a rally and spew hate on the City Hall steps, and Hamas, who yes is a terrorist organization but they are not the problem, is not guaranteed freedom of the press? They are merely the symptom of a much larger problem. The fact that people completely ignore that the United Nations and the world just gave present day Israel to a group of people who had no claim to it. It would be like someone your homeland to another country. Its definitely an ethnic problem, but who the hell wouldn't put up a fight? The redneck Gun-toting Republicans would be militant as hell if you gave there land to someone else. I mean its all sort of Racism when it boils down to it I guess.

It just makes me wonder if we are one more crisis away from a total loss of freedom all carried under the banner of Patriotism? It seem very V for Vendetta-esque but the more scared people are, it seems the dumber we collectively get.

I also realized today, I'm pretty sure I'm a socialist. And I'm tired of it being an insult, so I'm taking it back.

Guantanamo Bay here I come.
