An incomplete thought I'm working on

The difference between my conservative friends and me as I see it:

I want to do the work required to live in a world where there is no poverty, no need, no want. My conservative friends seem content to create a separate space for themselves where they are untouched by others' want and poverty and all that entails. My way produces their result as well, but it has a high price tag of money, work and time, Their way requires a high fence and the ability to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others.

To be fair, my way requires the ability to turn a blind eye to human nature and is almost certainly unrealistic. Their way is far easier and the work/money/time price is far smaller.

But there's a hidden cost to their way - your humanity.
