Think Globally, check locally
So I saw the Orlando Sentinel had a neat application that lets you see who is donating to what candidates. I decided to check my ZIP Code, a fairly affluent area of East Cobb County. We are a dark red spot in a red state, former home of Newt Gingrich, the ones that put the stickers on the science books that said Evolution is only a theory, the county that built its own transit system so we wouldn't be connected to the poor black people in downtown Atlanta. It's the center of the openly anti-gay, gun-toting, million-dollar house owning (not me) Republican base. What did I find there?
Obama out-raised McCain $20K to $14k, with almost twice as many contributors. This means more people donating a smaller amount of money each, indicating (at least to me) a groundswell, a change in the wind.
I am hopeful for November.
