Here And There, Then And Now

Since this seems to be the thing today...

1999:

Got dumped a day before my birthday (again....but I believe that was my well deserved Karma still working itself out).

Still living in Ann Arbor.

Graduated from Grad School that year. Would have had the HCI specialization in my degree I had been working for if my academic advisor had been..you know...competent.

Hit the working world as a full time professional. First job was the hospital trial by fire. Second one was the dot com that went tits up by 2003.

Got offered an interview slot with Electronic Gaming Magazine to work for them as a reviewer. ALMOST took it. My life would no dobut be very different today if I had gone down that route.

Covered QuakeCon '99 as a freelance journalist. It kicked ass despite the ass-kicking heat. In Texas. In August.

First trip to Japan and Hawaii with the folks

That interesting and ultimately frustrating trip to Toronto.

Lived long enough to watch George Lucas skullfuck my childhood.

Almost 45 pounds heavier than I am today.

Galaxy Quest on Christmas Day. W00t!

Start wondering what am I REALLY going to do with my life...assuming Y2K didn't destroy the world (Ha ha! What a fun time that was :)

One of the best and worst years of my life.

2009:

Married to my wonderful wife for over seven years

The birth of my son.

The demise of my six and a half year career as a consulting owning part of my own business, tempered by the good fortune to get a halfway decent job with only a month and a half of looking.

Living back in Massachusetts, only five minutes away from the house I grew up in.

Lived long enough to watch Steven Spielberg skullfuck my childhood (Okay wait, I think that was 2008, right?)

Far more vice-riddeled than I was ten years ago.

A bit more outgoing and social than I was back in 1999.

First time in ten years I'm not spending NYE with my closest friends.

One of the best and worst years of my life.
