Light

It's getting darker now, the sun having set a good while now. But it gets dark slowly because the Sun's path makes such a small angle with the horizon right now. This means that there's a longish period of beutiful light to be seen towards the snow-covered pines and birches.

This is what I still long after so long time in Jyväskylä. The sun doesn't rise for about a month on that particular latitude but it doesn't mean it's dark in the middle of the day. There's a long aurora/sunset glow going on for a couple of hours. And don't forget the opposite side of the sky -- the shadow of the Earth can be seen as a darker blue segment (you can see it anywhere right after the sunset). It adds a contrast to the glowing colours in the southern sky.

A moment ago I went to the nearby shops to buy ground meat. The glow of the sky was quite spectacular and it made me remember many winter days. When I walked back home, the whole western (or thereabouts) sky was purple and all those colours...
