At The Foot Of The Cross

With the Easter season upon us, I hope and pray that you all remember that this is the second part of the Christmas Story, and not about bunnies and beagles (had to get the Peanuts thing in there). Jesus did not remain in the manger a beautiful peaceful child. He wasn't just a guy who walked around and said and did good things, He was GOD. How ( Read more... )

I'll be getting more wordy towards Friday. I'll probably post several times on Friday. I don't know about you, but the crucifixion itself doesn't bother me too much. Where I really get emotional is when the Father turns His head away. That was Hell in every sense of the word. We can truly say that Christ loves us enough, He would go through literal Hell for us...not a place of fire and brimstone, but separation from God. That is Hell. And that separation makes Hell so awful.

"Jesus Christ went through Hell so you wouldn't have to."

I think the whole thing was pretty hellish and by the end of it I am pretty much a wreck...

I hate being the cause of so much pain... but I thank Him daily for going through it so I wouldn't....

I'm a weanie when it comes to pain lol

You're right. It was. But what hurt Him most was separation from His Father, which is the literal definition of Hell.

yes I know that... but considering I can't trully identify with Him there... it's *easier* to picture his physical suffering... I'm not down playing the Father turning away... I'm just saying for ME to ID with Christ's pain I have to go for the more physical... it makes sense in my head but it probably confusing to read lol

Oh most definitely. NOTHING about that day was good. I have just been trying to get people to really understand how awful Hell is. Too many people think that the fire and brimstone is what makes it so bad. I always tell them: "No. What actually makes it so awful is that's a place where God forgets everything that goes into it." Essentually, when someone goes to Hell, God is saying, "I choose to forget you." And as Christians, I think it's important to know that Christ's suffering was great from the Garden of Gethsemane all the way to the point He took His last breath. But, what I feel was His worst pain was when He endured separation from God (which is what Hell is very literally defined as). But there's no doubt that the entire day was very terrible and inhumanly painful. And I hope to express that in my entry tomorrow.

BTW: Look for the trials tonight. I'll try to post them. As well as Peter's denial.

totally and completely understand... but I wonder if people who don't understand God and what He trully is all about and who He really is and what all of this really means... I wonder if they can understand that whole feeling of God completely turning Himself away from CHRIST...

it's something to wonder about lol

We obviously can't because we will never feel the terror of God's complete separation from our lives. And I can only feel completely humble that Jesus went through Hell for me so I'd never know that terrible feeling of God's separation from me.
