Clearly, I have not been exposed to enough JE in the past year or so, because I have no idea who this Toma boy is. I think I know who Jun is, and you cannot be into Asian media and not know Yamapi, but... Toma. Huh. For the life of me I can't tell which one he is. D: D: D: *greatly disturbed by her ignorance*
That said, I am going crazy with your JinSyung and MinWan and Kangin/TOP. Because I kind of started all three and they are not going anywhere. (Only sharing because now that I whined to someone about how impossible my writing is, I might be able to finish at least one of them tonight.)
Oh, he looks familiar! JE for the most part just cracks me up and, if exposed to it for over an hour, gives me a hellish headache because somewhere deep inside I'll always be a Pony Canyon fangirl, but anyway. Shinhwa. Yes, they are tricky business. They just don't want to dance my way, and that fills me with as much frustration as awe (because they are, you know, ~*~speshul~*~ and more difficult than funny little guys like Suju or DBSK).
Ahaha, I could never get as heavily into JE as these kpop things because um, superficial things and kpop is just so good to listen to, like *really* and it's just such a great field overall. JE is ..eh. But fun times for those who get into it, I don't judge. ;)
I have the same dilemma. I feel more pressured to portray Shinhwa *canonly* which is crap because there's no solid canon. And I feel pressured to write pairings close-to-reality like, which is a dilemma because while they have fanservice, I realize that in reality they do not have teh buttsex. Whereas I can throw those realities out the window when writing Kangteuk (best fanservice pairing evah!) or whatever. It simply doesn't matter.
With Shinhwa I'm pressured to be loyal because they're so amazing and I love them so dearly. I should just get a grip, and remind myself I can characterize them as long as I MAKE them my characters, and stop focusing so much on "what Dongwan is rly like" as opposed to, "what my Dongwan is like, in fic".
J-pop fandom is the place where you go for the faggery, not the incredible talent. xD But even then, w-inds. & Lead forevar, because there is just so much gay going on between those 7, sometimes it's hard to believe even for veterans like me. + they can dance like whoa, even if most of their music sucks. JE boys don't dance, they flail. =/
It's like, it's hard to write fic when you're almost sure it has a solid basis. Like, RicSyung is... just there in some form or another, and I have no idea what to make of it most of the time, or how much messing the MinWan can take before I overdramatize what they have... ashadgasheghaegd Shinhwa, why so cruel to me. ;~;
I have some w-inds tracks on my iTunes. Super lover <3
RicSyung is a mindfuck. It's easy as piss to write *as* mindfuck - like they don't know what's happening so it's easy to write when you don't know what's happening either. But the other pairings, the love is there, it's just a strange thing to write it as ..a dramatically different kind of love. Tricksy.
Toma was also in Akihabara@Deep as Box, Hana Kimi as Nakatsu, and now is in Honey&Clover [but I haven't started watching it yet D:] and he's been in other things. *_* He's gorgeous and wonderful and has a great smile. You know. If you watched those Jdramas... >.>
You know what. That IS what I meant to say. *_* So glad I have you here to remind me when I fail to say things in the right way. Because srsly. Toma. RAWR. I think I just replaced my TOMA+SWORDS=SEX icon too D:....unless its in this-is-cd? lskdfj
