Settle down everyone, it's time for another Pop Songwriting Class. Now, today we're going to be talking about love songs. In order to write a love song, it helps to focus on someone that you love while you're writing it. Justin Timberlake probably thinks about Cameron Diaz, for example. Robbie Williams thinks about himself, obviously. And apparently Will Young thinks about Orlando Bloom - who knew?
Don't panic, Orlando fangirls - it's all entirely one-sided on Will's part. But apparently unrequited love is all very helpful as part of the creative process. Digital Spy quotes Will as saying: "Unrequited love's wonderful. You can just sit there and wallow in it and write about it. I have huge unrequited love for Orlando Bloom. I did actually see him in a pub once and I couldn't finish my food; it was so embarrassing."
Awww. And now that idea's out there in the public domain, we bet you any money we'll be able to find a dozen x-rated fanfics that tell a very different version of that story by the end of the day...
