A little over a year ago ago I wrote about O-ichou, the 1000 year old God-tree of Kamakura, Japan. I am sorry to report that O-ichou fell last week due to "high snow-laden winds from Tuesday night" (according to Google Translate). Rest in peace, giant awesome tree deity.

I have seen several reports indicating that my old riding buddy Howard Gobioff has passed on. The last time I saw him was in Tokyo; Google had moved him to Japan and I ran into him completely randomly at Heartland in Roppongi Hills. I worked with Bounce for several years as a medical Ranger, and continued to work with him after the "blue dot" system was dropped in favor of the current one. Bounce was one of my two favorite medical Rangers, and this news hit me pretty hard today.
