Movie Pitch: Jewish Vampires

I've always admired the Jewish tradition, welcoming discussion and discussions of the discussions involving lots of complicated rules and issues. Simultaneously pragmatic and formally legalistic, sometimes perversely so. For example you're allowed to carry something outside your house, unless it's on the Sabbath, unless you're inside an Eruv, unless the wire breaks or falls down without breaking, unless the thing you're carrying is a deployed umbrella, bicycle, or ball for play, unless you're a kid playing with a ball. Not necessarily the way I like to spend the sabbath but awesome nonetheless.

And if you've ever seen a vampire movie you'll see a lot of similarly complicated rules. A vampire can't go out, unless it's nighttime, unless he's going into your house, unless you've invited him into your house, unless you're also a vampire but don't know it yet, unless you're in one of those movies where the inviting-vampires-into-the-house rule does not apply. Not necessarily the kind of life I want to have but awesome nonetheless.

Vampires are the Jews of the monster kingdom: intellectual, traditional, dressed in black, vaguely eastern european, reluctant to accept converts, behaviorally constrained by confusing rules, and occasionally persecuted by Catholic priests. There are even persistent rumors that jews drink human blood. I'd like to see a movie like Blacula but Jewish.

In conclusion go jews.

Update: Polish Vampire in Burbank is awfully close.
