tongodeon the car thief

The midget containment field remains intact. I was up in SF all weekend and nobody so much as dropped a hint to matrushkaka about my new Prius. We also didn't say anything on the way back, and she didn't notice anything suspicious about the new car parked two houses down. Not that she should - there are a few new cars in our neighborhood.

Today during lunch we picked up her new bike and on the drive over I told her how hard it's been to find a car and about how I'm worried that time is running out for the tax rebate. I started joking that maybe I should just steal one, and file a report saying I'd stolen a Prius and am therefore entitled to the tax rebate. She said we should steal mobiledurant's because he never uses it to come see us anymore.

Tonight we're going to see a captioned showing of "X-Men 3". In a few minutes I'm going to submit a fake del.icio.us link to "someone finds a way to bypass the electronic door locks and ignition on a Prius using refrigerator magnets". The URL will be broken, but she'll hopefully read the link before this evening. I'll come home with a few refrigerator magnets and tell her that I'm going to try to break into our neighbor's prius just to see if the trick works, and that I'll need her help as a lookout. And because I'll have the key in my pocket, when I'm actually able to open the door I'll start yelling "quick! hop in and let's get away before the neighbors see us!"

The confusion and panic of "what the hell is he doing stealing a car?" followed by the delayed realization of "OMG you bought a new car!" should be priceless.

Update: It was!
