Curiously enough that Pain Scale thing was on last week's episode of Scrubs, and I thought it was just a gag for the show.

Kids, non-native-language speakers, and the cognitively impaired (among others). It's also nicely intuitive. I'm not sure about the color-coding though: "green" means "Mr. Yuk" to me.

That might be the best response to that quote I've seen so far. I could not write anything about it, because weary semi-amused shaking of head no longer seemed appropriate. That "2" rating on the pain scale seems very appropriate, though.
