WHEEEEEEE. 8DDDDD

Golly that was fun. Ohhhh, live orchestra, with the awesome songs from FF rendered in full concert hall acoustic glory, out with mangaka_chan, lakari and other buds of theirs. I was in my happy place for a while after the concert. ♥♥

I ended up feeling like I wished I knew more of FF7 cause there were so many songs from that, but hearing FF9 ones was pretty awesome (they had the stage sword dueling song omg! er it's called Flamenco something orz) There was appparently an awaited "Dancing Mad" from FF6 (again I wish I was more familiar with it), which had this EPIC ORGAN featured in it that the director said was in the back cause it wouldn't fit on stage; they showed him on the projector screen during his solo bits, and I just remember how the song ended with the hall bursting with the organ notes. The Chocobo song and accompanying video especially was adorable. X3

They had a vocalist called Susan Calloway (I thought I'd heard of her before but I checked her bio in the playbill and no I hadn't) who did Suteki Da Ne, Melodies of Life and Kiss Me Goodbye. To be honest, the only one I really liked her performance was Kiss Me Goodbye, mainly because that matched her singing style (it sounds the most like Celine Dion type singing). She used the same singing style for all the songs, and well, it just didn't seem to mesh well for the other two (of course I'm biased because I loved the originals so much, but I tried to listen to these new versions and well, they just weren't the same). I think it's that those two songs needed more pure tones for the songs and she added the typical singer ornaments that get on my nerves sometimes even when I didn't think it sounded that great with it (I remember whenever one of those singers sings the national anthem at a game or something, they take practically half the time to show off their singing with ornamentation like a roller coaster rather than making the song actually sound moving.) I always loved listening to the orchestra though. ♥ Sometimes I even tried to partially ignore the videos on the projector screen so I could watch the orchestra play. (The projector had some nice videos on it though of the corresponding game the music was from, usually featuring the scenes where the song was played in the game. And of course the Chocobo song. 83 )

OH AND DID I MENTION Nobuo Uematsu was at the concert, in person, right in the audience with us. 8D And. For the encore. They were telling us, "okay, since we don't have a choir you guys the audience are gonna sing it! Tried this last night, didn't quite work, so this time we have subtitles with the lyrics w00t!" And then the orchestra started playing, and the stage lights turned red. One Winged Angel. Oooh that was epic, and suddenly I felt very proud of my choir background =D Now THAT was a way to end the concert with a bang! We made sure to take pictures of us at the hall afterward to prove that we were there "for posterity" XD

Siiiiigh. Happy sigh. Time to go to bed now. I hope my dreams tonight will be filled with Final Fantasy orchestra music happiness. ♥
