Yoinked from itsplashes:

1. Reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. List (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Post that to your journal with these instructions.

I got the letter P. I was thinking, "oh dear, I don't remember five songs that begin with the letter P on my playlist! I'll have to go dig through my collection..." until I looked through it and found like 22. XD So, I actually had to pick the ones I liked best.

Here they are for y'all! Click to go to a page you can either listen or download. :D They're in backwards order of the ones I liked the best.

5. Piranha Plant's Lullaby - Piano

This is from the Super Mario 64 soundtrack (omg retro! XD ), but you won't hear this in the game. Apparently this is an extra track they included that is a piano version of the lullaby (in the game as a music box instrumental) that plays while you walk past a sleeping Piranha Plant. Relaxing, somewhat whimsical.

4. Place of Memory

This is from the Final Fantasy 9 soundtrack, while going through the place that is comprised of people's memories. (Appropriate name, huh?) A very pensive, solemn song that has a nostalgic tone to it. One of my favorite tracks to listen to.

3. Prairie Rain Field

This is from the .hack game soundtrack (the original games, not G.U.). It plays during the grassland type generated fields. It really does sound like a quiet field where rain is beginning to fall. It's a very calm, meditative track. There's a part which sounds more tense, and that's when you come across an enemy in the game. Outside of that context, it's kind of like when in your thoughts there is internal conflict. But then it fades, leaving that meditative peace again. Also one of my favorite tracks.

2. Procession of the Spirits

In Japanese it's called "Kamisama-tachi", but the official translation from the US released soundtrack begins with a P. So it counts. :P

It's from the Spirited Away sountrack, and it's played when the spirits parade off the boat into the bathhouse. I love the songs from this soundtrack; this song in particular really does have this playful tone at first, like little fun-loving gods, but then when you see how many of them there are and the entire group there's a sense of wonder and awe. I remember commentary on this said that the trumpets played at parts contribute to this feeling, like the announcement of a grand parade.

1. Prism
Haha, #1. Depending on how much this show stays in my mind, this may even stay that way. I recently finished Dennou Coil, where this song is the opening theme, and it has REALLY gotten me thinking about it. There are some things that bother me about it, and depending on where it goes this may inspire me to write a full-out sequel fic to it. I have only done this for one show so far and that is Princess Tutu. o_o

But wait, this is about the song! I really like Ayako Ikeda's voice; it rings so loudly clear and pure. Her other two songs on this single, Shards of the Sky [Sora no Kakera] and Traveler [Tabibito] are also ones I really like. Even if I decide I don't like Dennou Coil that much after all, I still will really like these songs just for how pretty and cool they sound.

spirited away, dennou coil, ff9, mario, music, meme, .hack
