AND ONTO THE RECS:
    Sherlock - 7 Fanfics
    Sherlock - 2 Fanvids
    One Piece - 2 Fanart

Sherlock: A Messy Business by KCS - OH MY GOD KIDFIC YES. John is turned into a kid through some handwaving, because it's not about that, it's about watching Sherlock interact with kidlet John and, oh my god, it is the most delicious, satisfying thing ever. It's told in short 221b (221 words, final word starts with a 'b') format, so each chapter is actually very short and it's not as long as it looks (probably about 5-6k or so) but they're all in a row and they're all beautifully done and, oh, I love that Sherlock rises to the occasion, because that actually fits with my view of the character and that I think he probably had a good childhood. This is endless amounts of cute and hilarity and just... everything you want out of kidfic, the reasons you read it in the first place, this fic does. And it's worth reading even if you don't usually read kidfic, because it's so good. (This is gen, obviously, but will likely be of interest to Sherlock/John fans, too.)

Sherlock: that thing you like by misspamela - I suspect I may have read this fic before, parts of it felt familiar, but! Even if I have, well, it's been awhile and it deserves a re-recommendation, because, oh, it's a lovely piece where Sherlock invites John to his house for Christmas and, yes, I do wish a bit more time had been devoted to the Holmes family, but Mrs. Holmes was amazing for what she was in it. There's a scene in particular--you'll know it when you get to it--that was just pure, utter perfection. I love the characterization here, both felt so spot-on, especially for digging into Sherlock's home life and the bits of his past that come up (though, that's not really the entire point) and how they both deal with the obvious something between them. Plus, hilarity and spot-on voices! This was an excellent read, with a satisfying build-up to the sexytimes that I could believe. ♥ (Sherlock/John, NSFW.)

Sherlock: Never Too Late by KCS - [Note: This fic is a continuation of A Messy Business, which would help to have read first.] After having finished A Messy Business, I pretty much leapt right onto this one and tore through it in one sitting because, oh my god, Sherlock with kid!John is amazing and delicious and perfect. The author does an absolutely brilliant job of making it sweet and hilarious, but also hitting me right straight in the feelings. I love love love that Sherlock is actually rather good at taking care of John as a kid, you almost wouldn't expect it, until you see it and, oh, of course it makes perfect sense and fits with my view of the characters. But there's also a chapter where the near-inevitable happens, when you're writing kidfic, that John gets lost and the ensuing events afterwards are so incredibly satisfying, for all the characters and their reactions, that it was like the most delicious candy ever. The characterization is just absolutely spot-on, for Sherlock especially, but also wee!John who still somehow manages to evoke the feeling of adult!John, even when he's been regressed. Basically, I want to roll around in this fic forever. (This is gen, obviously, but will likely be of interest to Sherlock/John fans, too.)

Sherlock: Christmas Interlude by KCS - [Note: It would help to have read A Messy Business by this author before reading this fic. There are also SPOILERS for The Reichenbach Fall in this fic and this rec.] More kidfic! I wanted to ration this one a bit, because it's such a delightful arc, but as soon as I started it, nope, I couldn't put it down again. The author continues to strike this gorgeous balance of pure fluff and something more serious, something that genuinely makes me want to just curl up in my feeeeelings and sob for a bit at how much I love everything. But also! There are kid-sized snowball fights that left me howling with laughter! So many bawwws at the latest chapter! (Chapter 8, as of the time of this rec.) Like, punch a person in the heart bawws! And, oh, I love the use of Sally Donovan, who slowly starts to warm up to the reader and to the other characters, but in a way that lets me still believe that this is a natural character growth for her. Ugh, so many feelings for all of this. (This is gen, obviously, but will likely be of interest to Sherlock/John fans, too.)

Sherlock: The Road Trip Series by stupid_drawings - Oh, this series was entirely fun! I wound up really liking the structure the author used, that style of short snippets, just a few quick lines with timestamps on them, to show the passage of time and that works really well with ROAD TRIP FIC. A series of road trips with John, Sherlock, and Lestrade. Of course I was going to pounce on those! And I love it for the three of them being stuck in a car together, the way they get on each other's nerves, the way Sherlock is so batshit while John just sort of rolls with it and Lestrade is the WHY IS THIS MY LIFE guy who gets sucked into the batshit despite himself. It's so charming and made me fall in love with all of the characters all over again and satisfied that need I didn't realize I had for roadtrip fic. Totally a fun way to spend some time this afternoon! (Some implied Sherlock/John.)

Sherlock: Transition by scribble55178 - [Note: This was written long before The Reichenbach Fall, but I'm still going to put a SPOILER warning on it and this rec.] I feel like I've been running out of fics that deal with the immediate aftermath of Sherlock's return post-The Reichenbach Fall, so this was a wonderful find this afternoon. It was written back in 2011, well before s2 even started airing, so the details are different, but it's remarkably spot-on for the emotional aspect--John dealing with seeing Sherlock again, the way he feels torn in so many different directions, the way it's so difficult to process any of it, the absolute heartache of it all, was deliciously satisfying. It's definitely one of the better ones I've read in the last couple of days, for this specific trope I wanted. (This is gen, but should be of interest to Sherlock/John fans.)

Sherlock: As Though His Heart Were Breaking by veronamay - [Note: There are SPOILERS for The Reichenbach Fall in this fic and this rec.] So, I've spent awhile now mentally thinking, oh, I want to find more post-The Reichenbach Fall fic that'll really punch me in the feelings! Apparently, this fic decided to grant my wish by punching me in the feelings until I thought I might tear up a little. There is something so masterful about the build-up of this piece, where John is very careful to not react, to try to just make it through the afternoon when Sherlock shows up again, to work through it and understand that he's sure Sherlock had his reasons. But there's an undercurrent that you feel right along with him and, when that dam breaks, it kind of took me along with it. Heartbreaking, but in a good way. (This is gen, but should be of interest to Sherlock/John fans.)

Sherlock/House/Fourtysomething Fanvid: Cat's in the Cradle - anenko pointed out the link for this and, whoa, I did not expect a multi-fandom crossover vid to be so amazing! The clips the vidder chose are spectacular, the amount of shots that mirror each other, between House and Sherlock, seem almost fated when lined up like this (even if it's just the law of averages and them being similar-ish characters) and it's just... I'm rather speechless at how amazingly well this works. Just. Wow! (No warnings/pairings.)

Sherlock Fanvid: Make It Go Away - [Note: There are SPOILERS for The Reichenbach Fall in this vid and this rec.] Oh, this was just... it was a really lovely, sad look at the Sherlock/John friendship and how much it hurt when Sherlock jumped, how much John hurts after it. The song is so sad and the video clips are beautifully chosen, they work wonderfully with the music and the dialogue from the show is wonderfully woven in as well. It's definitely one of those sad, sad videos that I revel in because I'm still sad, too, but also love because, ugh, all the feelings inside me. (Sherlock/John.)

  - One Piece - [ Pixiv Account ] - I was looking for OP art again this afternoon and I've probably seen this artist's work a few times before, but I'm not sure if I've recommended their art properly? Eh, well, either way, even if I have already, it deserves mentioning again because, good lord, this art is gorgeous. Ace and Luffy and Ace and Luffy again and Luffy and one more of Ace and Luffy are probably my favorites and a good selection to give you an idea of this artist's style. The colors are absolutely stunning, these warm and nearly glowing peaches and soft oranges, very warm sunset colors that are just, ugh, totally in my wheelhouse. But also the basic lineart is stunning and, oh, of course I'm all over the art on a character level--D kyoudai-centric art with the occasional Ace or Luffy standalone? All over that. Really stellar art here and I'm glad to see a fair amount of it is recent, so maybe there'll be moooooore soon. *__* (This is gen, but Ace/Luffy-centric.)

  - One Piece - [ Pixiv Account ] - I stumbled over this artist again for their recent-ish (at the time of this rec) Roger and Rouge with baby Ace piece that's just gorgeous, beautifully colored and hitting a straight shot to my fannish heart. And then I realized, oh! It's the artist who did one of my favorite OP pieces ever--Dragon, Luffy, Roger, and Ace!! Their faces are all amazing in that image, in addition to being beautifully drawn and colored, because, oh, god, Ace's life is so hard. So this artist became one of my favorites ever for gorgeous Roger/Rouge and kitty heartbreak family (with little kitty ears Ace's face being the most hilariously rageface ever) and, seriously, Rouge and Roger with naught but a sheet to cover them. This is everything I want--OTPs, perfect families, and gorgeous art. (Mostly gen, some Roger/Rouge.)
