Community: Journalism Ethics by angeria [ part 01 - part 02 ] - One of the things I love about this fandom is that occasionally there is fic that just nails the fast-paced antics dynamic of the show, right down to the dialogue and the little looks everyone gives each other and Abed's beautiful meta commentary. Absolutely everyone in this fic is pitch-perfect, even in the group scenes with all the characters that the author had to juggle. I love that the fic started out with Abed and Troy watching people slip in the rain, which leads to meta/breaking the fourth wall from Abed and the rest of the gang eventually coming up and misunderstanding things and of course that snowballs and it was just. It would have been so easy to see this as an episode from the show! I picked this one up for the Jeff/Annie UST, but I think I loved it even more for the dynamics between everyone, right down to the brilliant ending. (Sort of Jeff/Annie, but I found it more like genfic.)
Gravitation: let me make it better by cuethe_pulse - This is a really solid look at Eiri and Shuuichi after the events in Kyoto and all that came before them, when Eiri brings Shuuichi back to the new apartment for the first time afterwards. I really like how the author is basically writing just makeouts, but there's so much more going on there, so much unsaid between them and lingering under the surface, even with Eiri, despite that this is a Shuuichi POV. I really like this author's voice for him, it's just the right balance between getting what's going on here and still being a crazy, loopy airhead--not to mention how much he's starting to slowly get Yuki. Dammit, now I want more Gravitation fic again. (Yuki/Shuuichi, a light R-rating or so.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - Sweet and Sour Memories by justsonya - Awww, I have a fondness for Lambo/I-Pin and cute little stories like this one where... they're growing up and getting closer and have feelings for each other, but it's still sweet and almost kind of innocent. Despite that they're hitmen for the Mafia. But I also really liked that it's from I-Pin's point of view and how she views the world and stupid boys, her struggle to figure out why someone weaker than her would try to protect her. And the ending was really cute/sweet, too, d'aww. (Lambo/I-Pin.)
One Piece: In Which Zoro Misses the Smell of the Galley and Perona Sets Stuff on Fire by cuethe_pulse - You know what I actually wound up liking the most about this fic? Zoro and Perona antics! Him searching for his swords that she hid, her trying not to get attached, it being Zoro's birthday and he's not with his nakama, but he's very Zoro about it, and then Perona does something almost nice and it's just. asdl;fkjaslkj sometimes I love these characters so much and ZORO AND PERONA ANTICS. HOW I HAVE WANTED THIS. :D :D :D (Implied Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece: We Call This Boy on Boy by Pero - Ahahahaha, I love fics like this, where the crew ends up on some random island with its own culture and of course it ends in hijinks of the ZoSan kind. It's hilarious to see them end up on a primitive sort of island where the women are trying to make Zoro and Sanji their property by kissing them, so, well, what're they to do about this predicament? I love Robin in this fic as well, because she's clearly having a hilarious time and of course she would. AHHHH I LOVE THIS PAIRING'S CRACK, it's such a great fit with the original canon. :D (Zoro/Sanji.)
Sailor Moon: Perspective by leni_ba - You know how you sometimes have to do that thing? Where you read a fic about your OTP that hits home so hard you just kind of have to make that little gesture where you clap your hands over your heart? YEAH, SHUT UP, I KNOW I'M A FANGIRL SAP, SHUT UP. That said, I really adored what this fic did with the concept--an acquaintance from Mamoru's work (set a few years in the future) looks over at the couple and we see his POV on these two character who don't quite seem perfectly matched to each other at first. It's such an interesting take because Mamoru and Usagi are often the epitome of perfect romance, yet this doesn't have to darken their characters to give them an interesting new aspect. So serious Mamoru and brightly laughing Usagi, they seem like such an odd pair at first, until you see them interacting with each other and just see the way they look at each other. That's my UsaMamo right there. ♥ (Mamoru/Usagi.)
Slayers: Focus by rosethorne - I've always liked my Slayers fics with a bit of a darker tone to them, especially when it comes to Xellos and Zelgadiss. I liked the author's take on their established relationship--that it's not particularly nice, but it's also not particularly invested at times, and then when it is... it's even more not nice. It's a short fic, just barely more than 300 words, but it worked nicely for me. (Xellos/Zelgadiss, NC-17.)
Weiss Kreuz: Inconsequential by fireun - I haven't read as much WK fic lately as I'd like, but then this one came along and I couldn't resist clicking onto it. I like that it's not really a very nice fic, that this thing they have isn't quite so nice underneath the polished suits and the devilish snears, that it's maybe not such true love and all that. Which seems obvious, but it's actually not something I usually seek out--yet it works in this fic. I really like what it says about Schuldich, the way he reacts to what he finds when he looks in places he shouldn't, how this isn't quite the dynamic he thought they had. It was really interesting and a nice read. (Crawford/Schuldich.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw): 90 calibre - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be reasonably easy to join.] I had to pick up this doujinshi, just for the novelty of a Hibari/Yamamoto doujinshi, since you almost never see either of those in those roles/positions! And it's... I can't say it's IC in my view, but the sketchy art is pretty to look at and it's kind of a really neat novel experience? It's also nicely long and there are several panels that are pretty and, possibly this makes me a terrible person, but, yeah, I found it kind of hilarious. XD (Hibari/Yamamoto, a light NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw): Gomen ne Shou-chan itakatta - ....yep, okay, no matter how long I'm in this fandom, I just can't shake my fondness for Byakuran/Shouichi, not when I get fed pretty doujinshi like this every so often. I really like the art of this piece, it's lovely and captures the mood very nice and I really kind of adored the scene where they make their promise to each other. But I also love the moment of real emotion from Byakuran and how you can feel the connection to Shouichi and even the light hint of porn to it. It says R-18, but don't be fooled, it's an R at most. But that's fine for this one. :D (Byakuran/Shouichi, a little NSFW.)

Community: Journalism Ethics by angeria [ part 01 - part 02 ] - One of the things I love about this fandom is that occasionally there is fic that just nails the fast-paced antics dynamic of the show, right down to the dialogue and the little looks everyone gives each other and Abed's beautiful meta commentary.
