Notes: Including today's post, I have done 774 for the year. This is just barely over halfway through my goal. ....I fail so hard. orz (I would have to do approximately 14 recs every day for the rest of the year to get there. I suspect that will not happen. XD)
Series:
    Bleach - 5 Fanfics
    Bleach - 1 Fanart
Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - 1 Fanart
    Harukanaru Toki no Nakade/Okami - 1 Fanart
Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - 1 Fanart
    Odin Sphere - 2 Fanart
    Okami - 1 Fanart
Tales of the Abyss - 6 Fanart

- Bleach - Lesson Number One by libekory - As I was reading this, I was a little unsure about the timeframe, since it's set during the Academy days and I didn't think that Renji and Rukia would have been so close at that point, even while they were obviously dancing around each othere here or that she would use his sword. But what I liked about this fic is that I was won over by it, that I wound up ultimately not caring because Renji and Rukia are very much themselves, Rukia's stubbornness to prove herself and Renji showing his caring through snapping and foul language, the way they interact as he's helping Rukia train against Hollow dummies is just right. I could easily see the two of them and the author made her creative ideas work in the fic, so this was a very readable, enjoyable little piece. <3 (Renji/Rukia.)

- Bleach - His Breath Warm Against Her Hair by Silver Harmony - I have a thing for Aizen/Momo fics, especially the ones that are softer and sweeter, the ones set before Aizen left Soul Society, because there's this... when you read about Aizen being nice to Hinamori, when you see him being so kind to her and watching her fall in love with him, there's this really pretty creepy undertone because we know how things will turn out. Yet, like with this fic, you can see how Hinamori missed it, because Aizen is just that good and the relationship is so sweet, even as they're just sitting next to each other and Momo feels safe around him. I liked her nervousness, the way it calmed when he sat next to her, I could really see her falling further and further for him. I liked the style/tone the author used as well, there's a certain feel to it that lends to the pretty creepy undertone throughout the fic. Very nice. (Aizen/Hinamori.)

- Bleach - Carry-Ons by norrowa - I was a little hesitant to read this fic at first because I'm generally not one for angstfic when I just want my smooshy kissingfic in fandom most of the time. But it was short enough to give it a shot and I'm very, very glad I did. The author does a lovely job with Orihime's internal voice, the crazy loops she thinks in while blending them together with her seemingly almost hopeless situation. When she stands alone in that room after Ulquiorra leaves and thinks about stories, it's just... it's really pretty and fantastic for that moment in the manga. There are a couple of really fantastic lines in this fic as well, the one about the sky she's looking up at hit me particularly well. *__* (Ichigo<--Orihime.)

- Bleach - Different by libekory - Now, this was just delightful. I loved the author's take on Orihime's POV here, the way her train of thought would drift off into little fantasies before she'd realize it, little crazy loops of thought until someone say something to bring her back to the situation at hand, combined with how she and Ichigo are at a more upscale restaurant and she's kind of fidgety because she's such a casual sort of person and more used to going to places like McDonalds and it just... it all works so, so well in this really lovely, smooth narrative. The Ichigo/Orihime relationship, both in the present time of the fic, and the little notes on how they'd gotten together, all really worked well for me, I loved the little details of their lives up to this point, the way their relationship worked. This is why I read futurefic for this series, because they would be so adorable together and because I get fic like this out if. <3 (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Bleach - Ten Minutes by Karlie - Apparently, tonight is my night for finding Bleach fic I like, because this Chad/Karin is pretty much EXACTLY what I want out of fic for these two. It's not very smooshy or sweet, instead it's much more matter of fact and that works brilliantly well for this piece, especially setting it from Chad's point of view. The little details, the way they just sort of fall into a relationship in their own way, Ichigo's reaction, the way their lives unfold in the future, the way they're still so recognizable even so many years into the future, the way the fic ends, all of it is both delightful and really fitting with the Bleach universe. I loved the final scene, I loved how much it said without really saying it, I loved the lives both of them had lived, I loved the style in which the story was told, using the time stamps to show different moments in their lives. Excellent. <3 (Chad/Karin.)

- Bleach - Sunflower [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Admittedly, I've been seeking out every single Ichigo/Orihime fanart site I can find and I'm quite desperate for art of the pairing, so what appeals to me isn't going to appeal to everyone. But I liked this site, for a couple of things. First, there's kissing and touching! That rarely seems to happen with het pairings--sure, there's lots of hugging fanart to be found or hand-holding, which are both sweet and very nice. But sometimes I like actual kissing, too! Second, the artist has these fun little comics where she's changed around moments from canon and had a little fun with role reversal and I had to smile at them. But, yes. The artist shows a lot of promise and I enjoyed going through the site, that's all I need. (Ichigo/Orihime.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Half of the illustrations on this site aren't my thing, but the other half are just beautifully drawn and are totally worth going through the entire galleries for. Nozomi looks lovely and the illustrations can be just full of these fantastic, lush details when the artist really puts a lot of effort into the drawing. The Halloween one, for example, is just gorgeous, wow. But, in the end, I enjoyed more of the illustrations (even the oekaki ones, which is how I came to the site in the first place, clicking on the website link for the artist of a really pretty oekaki on another board) than I skimmed over, which is enough for me. (Hachiyou/Nozomi, no real single theme.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade/Okami - dominopepper [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is a really lovely site, the colors are really lush and pretty to look at, making the art that much more interesting to look at. The artist draws an especially cute Nozomi and a very, very nice Tomomori, their hair and clothes look lovely. There's a lot of silliness on the site, a lot of gag stuff and goofy expressions/poses, which I tended to skim over personally (simply it's not to my taste is all) but everything is very nicely drawn, it's a nice site to run through when I'm looking for a Harutoki fix. And I was originally going to skip over the Okami part of the site (since it didn't seem like there was a ton of art at first glance), but I was browsing through the galleries anyway and... first there was a really nice Waka/Amaterasu image and then there was a nice human!Amaterasu design and I am totally a sucker for that. There's also some really cute, brightly colored art from the Oina tribe and is a really enjoyable site. (Some Tomomori/Nozomi, some everyone/Nozomi het, no Okami pairings/warnings.)

- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - WARDROBE+ [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was just fiddling around with Reborn! sites, not really intending to look too seriously at anything, since I'm only on volume 11, I've only just started on the Varia storyline, so it's probably still a bit too early, but... holy crap, there was a supremely hot illustration of Mukuro on the site. And then some super-hot Varia group illustrations. And then some of Tsuna and the rest of the main cast. The art is really awesome on this site, so slick and professional looking and, man, Tsuna in hyper dying will mode in this artist's hands is also so hot. And even the oekaki/sketches look fantastic! Definitely one of the best sites I've seen so far... and has me contemplating Mukuro/Tsuna now, given the way the artist draws it. *__* (Some Mukuro/Tsuna, a little other yaoi implications, but there's a lot gen, too.)

- Odin Sphere - glide [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The more I looked at this site, the more I really liked it, the artist draws some really gorgeous basic lineart, even in just her sketches, and she uses some very nice, light coloring and while... not everything was to my taste on the site, occasionally the artist would have an image that was just beautifully done, one that would just hit me. There's one on the page of Gwendolyn illustrations, the second one down where she's in her blue and black dress, where the artist has used these beautiful shades of blue and softened it just enough to almost make it glow and it suits the style of the game so well. Or there's the really cool purple/black/white one of Ingway on the miscellaneous page or the really gorgeous Oswald/Gwendolyn illustrations. So, not a ton of art on the site, but what's here was very satisfying. ♥ (Some of all the canon pairings, but not a single theme.)

- Odin Sphere - Dusk [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - One of the cool things about browsing through so many game-friendly sites is that, when I go looking for Tales of the Abyss fanart, I can wind up on a completely new Odin Sphere fanart site instead. Excellent! Between the log pages and the oekaki board itself, this was a nice, satisfying little site. There's not a ton of art here, but the artist has a lot of talent and I really like the bright, often vivid colors that reminded me a little of the game itself. Very nice. <3 (A little of the canon pairings, but it could mostly be a gen site, too.)

- Okami - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I've been saying this a lot lately, maybe my tastes are changing or maybe it's one of those weird coincidences or whatever, but I was about to pass by this site when I thought, well, I'll still give the Okami section a look. And maybe it's just because the Okami visual style is so different from a lot of other games or maybe I'm just looser with it because of the mythology themes, but whatever the reason, this artist's style really worked for me here. The lines aren't quite jagged, but there's a certain almost rough quality to them, something like an ink painting (sort of) that just impressed me somehow. The oekaki illustrations don't do it for me as much, but that cool one of Himiko? Or Amaterasu putting her paw on Waka's face? Or the battle against Oki? Amaterasu with Issun bouncing on her nose? All of that is totally interesting and fun. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, man, I love sites like this. While there's not a lot of non-sketch illustrations in these galleries (if any at all?), it totally makes up for that by drawing a ton of art and all of it's light and airy and really cute to look at. It also helps that the artist is very fond of Dist and the rest of the Keterburg gang, which makes me happy because I've become rather fascinated with that bunch. The illustrations of older Dist are fun, but asdlfkjalskfalksjd the ones of all of them as kids! Little kidlet Saphir and everyone is always kinda mean to him in that way that makes me love him so, so much. ♥ The artist uses a lot of pastels or just a hint of light purple or sometimes only colors their eyes or just does b&w and I wouldn't say any specific one image blew me away (though, I was severely delighted by the handful of Asch/Natalia images on the site), but the whole of the site was fantastic. (Jade/Dist, Peony/Dist, a lot of gen.)

- Tales of the Abyss - AeroPolis [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is a really lovely site, the artist uses those light colors that I'm so fond of, but she draws a beautiful Jade and Dist. She has these sharp, clean lines then adds in the shiny, soft pastels and does really lovely art and even her oekaki is worth checking out. While it's not nearly as strong as the gallery proper, there's some very cute ones or the occasional image that's really cool--I'm particularly fond of the one of Natalia in her spa costume. Or the one of someone taking Dist's glasses off and he looks all soft and pretty. Very, very nice site. (Jade/Dist.)

- Tales of the Abyss - CYBER-GLOVE [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I have very firm pairings in Tales of the Abyss, but with fanart... I'm pretty easy, as long as something is pretty, I'm generally pretty happy to look at it. And I really liked the artist's take on the characters on this site, her Guy, Luke, and Asch are all very pretty and have that clean cg-style coloring that I like so much. The early art does start off a little shakey, but by the time I was halfway through the gallery, I knew I was going to be won over by the site. I also really like the artist's take on the characters (well, mostly Guy) in modern clothes, they're really pretty illustrations. A nice little fix for my ToA fanart cravings. :D (Luke/Guy, Asch/Guy, Jade/Guy, everyone/Guy, a smidge of Asch/Luke, and a smidge of gen.)

- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It took me awhile to dig around on this site and eventually find the Tales of the Abyss art, but I thought it was worth the time. The art is very cute and you can tell how much the artist likes the girls of the series (especially Anise and Arietta) and there's not a whole ton of art here, but I enjoyed it as one of those sites on a longer fanart hunt. While I don't necessarily ship all the same pairings, it's nice to see the occasional Jade+Anise image and I did quite like the Sync/Arietta ones. Plus! The artist drew a couple of Luke/Tear and Guy/Luke images (though, this could entirely be gen, so I'm not sure I'm counting them as pairings) that were totally fun. :D (....nothing I'm going to warn for/label.)

- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It didn't take me long at all to warm up to this artist's style, the flat pastel pinks and greens that the artists uses, which suit characters like Ion, Anise, Sync, and Arietta so well, is a style I really like. Plus... you know, Sync/Arietta fanart. I really like that pairing a lot and a site like this feeds that by being so adorable. The art might not win anyone over, but it's very solidly good, especially as you start clicking the artist's more recent work. Plus! Plus! There's a small handful of Luke/Tear art and the artist's style also suits them pretty well and it's just so... so cute. (Sync/Arietta, a little Ion/Arietta, a little Luke/Tear, a lot of gen.)

- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It took all of three illustrations on this site to know that I was going to love it, which is good because there are only about a dozen illustrations on the site. But they're really, really lovely ones, the artist has some solid basic lineart but what really knocks them out of the park for me is the colors. There's a ton of them, all blended together so that they practically shine in half of the illustrations and I just love that. The artist's Luke looks terrific and, oh, man, I really love the chibi-esque group shot a lot. Totally fantastic little site. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
